Here is the one on mine. I am the second owner, my father being the first. When he looked at the car he told the salesman he would only buy it if it had the big "chicken" on the hood, a week later it was installed and purchased. I am currently working on restoring it, has been sitting for 8+ years, and cannot find the same bird to replace this one. The best match so far is an 81 Turbo bird with out the wings (three piece bird, body has small wings, and then add the large wing tips), it is the only blue bird I can find with the fire going to the left.

I don't know what it is about this one, I just like it for some reason! Very cool! It's "old school" (for lack of a better/not so over used term ). A set of 17" cragers would be awsome on that car.

I love the way the bird looks on the 3rd gen hood. If there was a shaker on there, would the bird still look good? I mean for a 3rd gen car. Anyone do the photochop? Shaker scoop and bird?

I was considering a shaker myself, only thing is the scoops from second gens are too round for the 3rd gen body and other shakers don't look right either.

Take a look at the shaker from a '79 Trans Am. They're much more squared than those of earlier birds like say a '76.

I've been thinking about the same exact thing! My bird will eventually be repainted silver and i will either have a black hoodbird or i was curious about how a ghost hoodbird would look. Has anybody ever seen one?
