Same thing happened to me. I was at a red light and got hit from behind by a 99 Cavalier, before they became the small import looking car they are now. She was doing about 35mph. Quarter buckled and my back bumper was GONE. My exhaust got pushed down tothe floor. Hatch had problems closing and all kinds of floor damage. They totalled it and I got what I paid for it 2 years earlier. This was in my old 86

i agree with everyone else...more than likely insurance will figure damage is more than the car is worth...so consider it gone...jus wait till they total it..and buy it back for dirt cheap from the yard that gets it if you like it alot

cuz you are a lucky one lol. the insurence company totaled out my friend's 5.0 mustang because there was like 4k in damage after him being reareded. he bought the car from them for like 1300 and went and bought himself a new one. he sold the old car for like 500$

Depends on the insurance company. I got to keep mine, they did not want it , but they deducted like 500 from the payoff.

You would think Geiko out of all insurance companies would try and rip you. But when I got rear-ended and the car was totaled I got $3800, and could have easially sold the car in its "totaled" state for about $1000, I drove it about 4 months untill I hit a poll and really totaled it.
They were probably just trying to keep me from sueing them, which they did sucessfully. My uncle is a lawyer and practically begged me to sue them.

Yeah, I turned around and sold it for part for 500. Not bad, I hated to see it go,my first car and all, but I think the IROC helped me deal with the loss.
