Cruise Control Lever

Hi,

I'm wanting to replace my crusise control lever on my 89 GTA. The one I have currently is a aftermarket replaceement and it's kind of cigar shaped and a bit longer than the original ones that actually came in our cars.

The plastic part with the "push" washer bit (not sure what to call it) is a nice slim shape compared to the after market ones.

What I did was to get a aftermarket with the "slim bit" in chrome and thought I could replace the chrome bit with the proper GM black one that should be on there for the GTA but as the cable comes out of that plastic bit it's not that easy to just replace it.

My question is if some one know how to take the cruise leaver apart and be able to remove the cable so I can replace the plastic "slim push washer" part and then reasselmbe again.

Any help appreciated.

Jan

I doubt they are serviceable. You may be better off buying a new gm one they're only about $30.

This is what all aftermarket ones and, as far as I'm aware, current replacement from GM looks like "cigar style" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2458219217

This is what our original ones looked like (except the chrome bit was black) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33595

As you see the bit I like to replace is the chrome bit on the second cruise lever. I bought a aftermarket one that is identical to our original ones except the chrome bit and like to replace it with a black one I have off a broken lever. But seems like the thing been glued together when they assemble them so might not work at all......

3gc, I can't tell from your picture if yours is the slim style (like the chrome one above) or the "fat cigar style" that I have. If it's the slim style when did you get yours from Next ?

I checked and I have the cigar style. I took a better picture and also took a picture of the original one from my 89 Blazer for comparison. I never noticed the difference.
