Replacement door Seals
I got a set of aftermarket door seals as my originals were in pretty bad shape. I fitted the drivers side seal today and when I was finished the door wouldn't close. I messed about with it and got it to close with a slam but when I put up the window no way will it close. The rubber on the seal is too hard. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Thanks

My soft seals were the same way when i first installed them. After a few weeks they(broke in)& formed to the contours of the door jamb.

It's not that it's hard to close. The door won't close now, the seals are too spongy. The seals are made by Metro, they are supposed to be pretty good and they weren't cheap!!!. How much are a set of genuine seals does anyone know?.

Yep, factory is the only way to go on weatherstripping. The GM seals are about $110 per door online.

I checked out prices on Door weather striping and the price for original GM is $155 each. That's $310 plus shipping. That's crazy!!. Everywhere is selling the Metro seals, which are the ones I have. Surely lots of people must have used them. Has anyone out there had a similar problem with the door not closing and over came it?. Is there anything I could try?.
Thanks.

Classic has the OER line & OEMs"G.M"($158 ea)the OER door seals are $80 ea.I think the OER are soft seal, beacuse thats what they sold me when i bought mine.Going on 5 years now w/no problems. The seals will settle in after a while & allow the door to close properly.Heres is the OER part# if you want WS507.OEM #s are R/H G6647,L/H 6648.I think the OER price is for the pair.

Thanks 84 1LE, I had a look on the classic industries website and a pair of these weather strips are $90 which isn't bad. If these are official reproductions then they should do the job. The Metro seals which I bought are just too dam spongy.

In the classic catalog .It says "most OER products are officially licensed by GM as authentic restoration products. They are designed & manufactured exactly like the originals."

I tried to order OER seals from Classic industries but they are out of stock and will be for a few months. Anyone know where else I could get OER door seals?
Thanks.

Please help, Door Seals.
I have tried Classic Industries for OER seals but they are out of stock. I called year one but they don't do OER. I have tried metro seals already but the door won't close, the seals are too spongy. What about SOFF SEALS has anyone tried them, are they OER?, are they any good?
Any help appreciated

Ive seen OER advertised in car mags.Plus there is www.paddockparts.com & www.firstgen.com(although this is a 1st gen buss, they carry OER)Maybe the chevy dealer would know.Since OER is officially licensed by GM.
