Can someone tell me how to change the window sweeps?

Mine still work but are cracked as heck, and I think it would clean up the apearance of the car a bit. I don't have any experiance at all with weatherstripping, so I have no idea how the stuff is on there (I'm guessing its glued?), how to get it off, and how to get it back on. Thanks.

Are you talking about the outer one you can see where the door meets the window? I need new ones too (less water gets in the door good to keep it from rusting common problem) they seem to be expencive tho.

I think its screwed on you have to remove your doorpanel and cap and rol the window down...if it is screwed youll have to losen the bottom stop and get the window to come down some more.....can anyone else verify if im right i may be getting confused with a different car.

Yeah I need the outer one, the inner one is fine. I guess I have to just take it apart and find out. Someone got them for $45 from a dealer, thats not bad. And someone on ebay has them for $54, but I don't know how good they are.

Remove the door panel and roll down the window. Its not easy, but not super hard,Just time consuming. Off is easier than the re-install. Some of the screws can be reached with a socket, others will require the use of an open end wrench. I replaced mine when I had my car repainted and what a difference it made against fresh paint.

Also forgot to mention it helps if you remove the window adjusters, with the felt pieces on them. This will allow you to move the window forward and back to get some play..

I got new ones from GM partsdirect, they were $20+shipping each. I haven't gotten to putting them on yet because the paint isn't done. But i took a look and on one of my doors (from an 89) it's held on with a hex head screw, on my other door (from an 84) it's held on by philips head screws.
