i would really like to see pics of the comp engineering cage kit installed. if anyone has pics of caged f-bodies, please, please post them. really in a bind and i need to see which cage you all think is best for tight fitment and safety. thanks a million!!!!! pat
Pat, i suggest you go with S&W Racecars. They make custom door bars that bend to the curvatures of the arm rests on the doors. Im ordering my kit thru them, and have heard nothing but good things about them.

C U Later, are you using the interior in your car? I ask because it looks like the hoop will interfere with the plastic panels and maybe the rear seat. You have the hoop welded a bit further back then I do on mine. I tacked mine one step lower toward the front of the car, maybe 3 in" more then yours.

yes the interior is in my car. i had to trim the sid panels just a little to get it to fit. i test fitted the panels before i welded the bar's. i put the mainhoop a 1/2" from the side for a nice tight fit,and the top of the hoop is 1 1/4" from the roof,that puts it 1/4" from the headliner. if you put the mainhoop forword it will reduce your seat adjustability when you add the crossbar. i just followed the NHRA rule book and got advice on bar placement from other racers.

Does anyone have a pic of the S&W side door bars for our cars? How many bends are in them. My C.E. bars dont fit with the stock arm rest

I know what yo umean about it being hard to get in and out. I put the drivers door bar in place and tried getting in and out and boy was it a lot harder then I thought. If I chose NOT to put the doors bars in, then what is the quickest I will be able to run leagally at the track. I want the bars there for strength so I might try and make it like the Kenny Brown street cage.

mine may not be as legal as the straight side bar but for what i do at the track on test and tunes and club nights its just fine for running as fast as a 6pt. can.

Kandid thanks for pics they look awsome. Do you have any pics of the install as it was being done. I am looking for pics of the mounting points of the main hoop. Also, what angle did you put the hoop at? I have mine in line with the B piller but it seems like yours is farther back then mine.
no unfortunately i don't have any pics of actual progress. the cage follows the lines of the car. i made three demands and let the shop do it as i have no idea how to do that stuff.
1. had to be 6pt.
2. had to be as out of the way as possible(basically try to make it not seen).
3. had to be chromoly.
number 2 was a huge deal. i absolutely hate cages in cars. but i needed it as my body was flexing causing the issues. i don't use the rear seat so that wasn't a loss but i've been around enough cars to know that typical cages are a pita to get in and out of and the rest so that's why it was done the way it's done. it's still very functional and serves its structural purpose however unless i pointed it out most never even notice it.
if you need specific pictures taken of points i might be able to do that but that's the best i can do. sorry.

the sw race cars cage is prebent to clear the door handles, I have it in my toilet and they work great!
