where did you find your 4th gen leather seats?
for those of you w/ 4th gen *leather* seats...where did you buy them and how much did you end up paying? i've searched 12 local junkyards and none of them have any leather 4th gen seats...cloth seats in perfect condition, they were willing to sell to me for $150-$250. ebay has a ton of them, but all the prices are starting at around $400, and selling closer to $500. add in shipping and that's almost $600.....any tips? i'd rather not spend more than $300 on the seats themselves if at all possible

I got my mint (8K miles) leather 96 SS seats from Speed Automotive for $650 shipped back in 2000. I think there rep has gone downhill over the past few years.
I got my 96 Leather Trans Am seats from my brothers 96 Trans Am.

more of the common colors go for 4-600 around here. i just sold mine for 350 after having them up for sale in the classifieds for over a year...
don't know what to tell you other then they aren't cheap in good shape. i sold mine so cheap just to get rid of them.

I just scored a complete 94 bird Int. Dash, centerconsole, and Front and rear leather (dark grey) Non power but both have lumbar. I got Everything for Under $250
Also scored a 2000 6liter LQ4 (basically a LS1 truck motor) 11k miles. $500 bucks
I may have the seats up in the classifieds soon. Im debating selling my grey 3rdgen leather stuff and the 4thgen leather and going with aftermarket seats anyways. no need for back seats with a 8point cage

I got my Tan '97 TA GT style seats off ebay for $650 shipped, plus because of the guy accidentally sending me a box for someone else and me taking care of that issue for him I got the matching tan seatbelts for free I looked around for quite a while for some seats and I feel like I got a decent deal on them, especially since tan is a hard color to find. They're in really good shape, with just a slight bit of wear starting to show on the driver's side bolster, but all the f-body seats seem to get this pretty quickly, and other than that they're great. Here's a pic (not great of the seat but you get the idea, and please ignore the NASTY old floormats, they're just protecting the new carpet )
But like most people have said, getting nice ones won't be inexpensive, unfortunately, unless you stumble upon a good deal.

Yep, I sure did. I priced out the harness from GM and it wasn't available but the price they listed if it WAS avaialable was something like $150 dollars. That seemed quite rediculous so I went to the autoparts store and got some vacuum fittings and vacuum line and a few different colors of wire and made my own harness, ran it under the carpet, hooked it up and ran power down from the fuse box. The lumbar and side bolsters work in both seats and I ended up spending a fraction of what a new harness would have cost. It's quite easy to do, let me know if you have any more questions about it!

Ya the idiot that pulled these seats out hacked the harness and vacuum line. At least I have the plug connectors So I can redo the wiring.
is there anything I may be missing? like a pump or motor etc. of is it just whats attached to the bottom of the seats?

Yep, you should be all set there, the pump is attached to the bottom of the passenger seat. I actually didn't use the connectors that were on the seats, I put bullet connectors on each wire and then plugged my homemade harness in using that, rather than using the plugs since I only had the plugs that were on the seat side, and didn't have the harness side plugs. If you've got both the male and female plugs though I'd go ahead and use them to wire it all up. The only other thing is each seat should have two hoses coming off of them (to supply pressure to the driver's side seat from the passenger's seat). You've just gotta hook the wiring together and hook the hoses together and everything should work. Sorry if that post is worded confusing, I hope you can figure it out. Let me know if you need something clarified, good luck!

Thanks... I should be good to go. wireing is simple. I just wasnt sure if the black box thing was the pump or what it was.
Im actually thinking about selling my stock 3rdGen leather and this 4thGen leather and buyin 2 Leather race seats. Cant use the back leather with a cage anyways

I guess maybe I'll give away my "secret." I use to always search on ebay for Camaro spelled every way possible. Camero Cemaro etc etc the most ridiculous spellings you would see and I would get products listed on ebay for them. Noone bids on them so I could get it for pretty cheap. One day I was actually looking for seats and I actually just typed "leather seats" thinking it would be a complete waste of time. Low and behold I found an auction for grey leather fourth gen seats and the title to the auction looked something like this "Z 28 SS LEATHER SEATS" - needless to say, noone else bid and I got my leather seats about 4 weeks later.

nothing i hate more than writing a post, hitting submit, and there's an error and it gets deleted....
anyway, haha yeah i've used that trick before. i used it when i bought my current camaro off of ebay. it works better for smaller items though...for cars, most people get to the cars through the listings (cars & trucks--->cars--->chevrolet--->camaro) so they end up finding the auctions anyway even if they're misspelled....i'll have to try this for seats though, see if anything turns up
edit: nothing turned up spelling it wrong....i tried 'camaro seats' to see what new auctions there were since the last time i checked, and i found a set of front/rear leather seats in great condition with a Buy it Now of $310...i was just about to buy them until i saw the shipping. these fools want $180 for S&H....i could freaking rent a car and pick them up for less than half of that, they must be crazy. most shipping on seats is $90, so i guess these guys wanted $400 for the seats, but wanted the low Buy it Now to trick somebody into buying
