Hey, at least the cop was there as a good witness.

Did the guy in the explorer have insurance?

Look on the bright side... now you can buy an even better thirdgen. ^_^

Considering the ten years the 3rd gen was in production, there really isn't a shortage just yet... now a parts/donor car at the very least, but that is major 'suckage' as we say.
I've had that happen, if memory serves, but I've also been distracted while driving...takes all the fun out in the second or less something goes wrong.

There's a beat Camaro Z down the street [small dealer] where I live, think it's for sale but didn't see it before...new arrival I guess.

....And yet again the passenger compartment looks unouched.

These cars seem to hold up extremely well, at least for the occupants.

Another victim of the brakes gripping too damn good

I feel your pain though man...heck, I get worked up from a little chip from rocks on the street. I guess the bright side being, you didn't get hurt, and you can collect major moola if you play the cards right

Good luck, and again, sorry to see another one bite the dust...

Another victim of SUVs, IMO. A little more speed and two passengers in the back could equal a real serious problem. Leave it to an unnecessarily oversized car to end up on top of yours.

In all honesty, you will be able to save/rebuild a LOT on this car. It looks like hell back there, but maybe even the rear end is OK. Let us know how the law pans out on this, and then what you plan on doing with all that green.

WTF!

...damm SUVs. There was a comic in the local paper the other day about them....had a big@ss SUV next to a tiny guy at the gas pump who was complaining about how much it cost for gas these days:
guy at pump- "this is rediculous, look at these prices?! Who ever is responsible for this is gonna pay when I meet them!"

gas pump to guy- "you just did. please take your receipt"

IMO, SUV's are nothing but a waste of money for everyone, and an excuse for spoiled little brats who just got a license mostly(at least around here).
It's so sad to see such a beautiful car that really IS'NT a waste, end up as one, and such a sh1tty car that really IS a waste, not be recognized as such.

To end my rant, i'd just like to say...
Got millions of brats running around before soccer?
-Get a minivan...
Want to go offroading(the REAL way) after working outside all day?
-Get a Silverado...
Your 3rd gen 'maro or poncho out of gas & money is tight?
-Ride in your b1tches Cavalier(ok...there are worse things to happen)
Gotta go with your b1tch to a black tie dinner?
-WTF do you think you own a 3rd gen for?!!!!

That's such a sad sight. Is that a stress fracture on the roof right above the door (where the back of the t-top would be)? I wish you the best of luck on a future project. I would be one pissed off and sad dude if that were to happen to my bird

Man THAT SUCKS!! I know the feeling tho, I was involved in an accident about a year ago in my 82 Firebird, it was caused by a drunk driver, but since I rear ended someone (who was involved in the accident with the drunk driver) I got the blame.

That's what she looked like... I was doing about 35-40 when I hit the rear end of the lady's car. It sucked.

She was driving a newer Mitsubishi Galant, it was completely totaled, front and back, yet I drove home. The drunk driver's car was drivable too, he had an Audi. These cars hold up increadibly well in accidents.

Ironic thing is, I was involved in another accident today, very minor, nothing more than some paint cracks on my bumper. Someone was cutting across the 3 lanes of traffic to turn left from a cross road on the right, he stops and blocks the fast lane, and is waiting until it's clear to go, I was talking to my girl at the time, not really paying the attention I should... the guy infront of me obviously didn't see him, slammed his breaks on at the last second, i slam mine on, but I tapped him, then the guy behind me tapped me, backs up and runs. Me and the guy infront of me get out, look at our cars and decide we don't need to involve any insurance companies. My paint on my bumper was messed up anyways, so I'm not that bummed about it, glad it was minor though.
