body or engine?

Hi just wanted to get your guys opinion. I was wondering if you guys think i should fix up my exterior and interior first like body work, paint job, new rims, carpet, seats, stereo, etc. first or should i get all the engine stuff out of the way first? like new engine, headers, exhaust, etc. See my worry is i wanted to get the engine bay painted as well but i wasnt sure if i would do that before or after the paint job seeing as the mechanic putting in the engine and acessories might mess up the paint. On the other hand if i get the engine bay painted after the new engine the people painting the car might mess up the engine??? Big dilema huh, well any input would be great, thanks

Engine first, paint the bay before it goes in.

I'm slowly tearing my IROC down. First step for me:

#1: Remove engine/tranny/wiring and interio
#2: Paint entire car
#3: Reinstall engine/interior/etc

Definetly engine work first. ***** style = style before performance

I had the same dilemma. I"ve done several cars in the past and always did paint last (usually ended up w/black painted inner fenders/firewall/etc.) This time I"m having paint and body work done first, then I'll work on the power train, and do the interior last. It's just a matter of personal preference. Of course you'll need to be a lot more careful taking stuff out/in if it has been painted. Just take your time and do it right the first time.
