Finally settled the Upright T-Top Storage

alright guys its not as bad as before. But it still needs a little finishing up. The camera isn't good at displaying black fabrics, they come up as purple so deal with me.

But i've used this setup for a couple of weeks now and there are no defects, the t-tops do not come loose, and the wood is easily removable. It seems to be the perfect setup for t-top storage.

I know you guys laughed at the t-top before, and you may again, but the black fabric was supposed to blend in with the carpet. When i diedthe cargo area carpet the die just washed right off so there was no luck there. Hope you like it.

ROFLMAO!!!

All in all, the idea isn't that bad, I would like something thats more "in place all the time". Carrying the T-Top bag is just as bad as having a 2x4 in its place to me. I want something that I don't have to fiddle with - Something that I can put the T-Tops in and be done with it.

Go find ya some sem black shane and spray paint thaty carpet in back black. And yes spraying it works guys and doesn't look stupid or it's not half assed.
SEM is a company who makes paint its a flexible coating for carpet fabrics, vinyl plastics pretty much anything costs bout 7 ot 8 a can.

I would've left it as is. For some reason a 2X4's no longer an intimidating weapon when it's purple and covered in fur.

Why not use the bag and the straps that were intended to hold the tops

As he stated before his is torn and ripped and had been sewn together many times and it was falling apart.
Dunno why he didn't get another I assume because of cost and availability. am I right shane?

well the bad zipper teeth have fallen off, cant zip it. The sipper is unsown from the bag itself, tand they cost money for new ones. I'm poor d00ds.

Yeah its fur but its black, my camera need a firmwear update but i'm too poor to buy a memory card to do it. YOu cant even use the onboard 16 megs for some reason.

The setup i gbot takes way less time todo then the bad and it prolly a better solution. You guys just dont like ti cause its not what your used to, maybe becuase it wasn't stock.

It looks ok. I think it would look better though if you used some carpet that matched yours instead of the fur. Thats how I store my t-tops but I dont use the 2x4. I just put a towel in between them so they dont get scratched up. Works good enough for me.

Seriously Shane, I try defending you when people get all over you... but some of them have a point. I don't have a problem with your 2x4 thing... at least if you get sick of it you can just pick it up and take it out of the car. But they have a point about the money thing. I understand a restricted budget and so do about 90% of the people on here. Let's face it, f-bodies are the affordable sports/muscle car and 3rd gens are the entry level f-bodies. But you can't have it both ways... I have a limited budget so I tend to only talk about DOING things that I realistically see happening sometime in the near future. I don't want to talk about a modification I have planned and then not have it be reality for 2 years if it ever is. I have tons of things I want to do, but when you tell people you are gonna do a list of 10 expencive mods very soon and it doesn't happen, you're gonna get a couple people saying "WTF?!?!, you talk out your *** too much"

On a side note, Can we have a Shane only forum where Shane can make all his posts and the rest of us are free to reply however we see fit? It's like his posts are rabid dogs, they have to be put down for the safety of the community!

Well done for trying something new. Now that you've completed the project, go back to using the T-Top bag like everyone else.

i about fell out of my chair when i read "j0n"s e-mail adress.

i store my t-tops just like that, only with out the two by four, i have a towl and then to straps that go to thge bag mounts that tighten it down. but i think i am going to get a two by four (cover it in black oem style carpet) and do that instead. it will look way less r.icer then a towl. but all in all i liktk kidrcth's idea. it's originall and GOOD. it just needs some slight revision.

and i like the idea of having a legit reason to cary a 2X4 in my car, cops always question the row bar i have " in case i ever get trapped in my car in an accident and need to break a window". suckers always buy it.

d00d, calm down, i'm trying my best with what i got. If it looks "weird" then so what atleast i like it, right? I would thouhg like to have a working bag, with all the zipper teeth and everything is sown together. My mom's sowing machine cant go throught aqll the fabric of these bag, trust me i tried many many times. It dont work.

I'm trying my best guys, just leave it alone, i sorta thought it was a neat idea to not have to use the bag. The bag sorta takes time to zip it up and sutff, this just takes the one seocnd to put the bar in place, and to putthe t-tops oin their positions. I really dont get what the big comotion is about.

yea sorry shane but the being in construction and covering it in purple fur was just too funny I know it AINT" purple though as he's stated many times liek my velvet you guys see it on my site you'd be ragging me over havin pink **** or orange in my car but I'd pass it off becuz you guys don't see it in person I do and I know its red, you'd just have to see it in person or know what velvet looks like red.

Hey shane how about designing a box for the well and a divider like your 2x4 and put em in it? all carpeted inside and everything.
Oh I forgot you want to be able to remove it and have storage when tops on in the car on the roof and junk sorry man my bad.

Shane I have to give you props. It is showing a LOT of character to read these posts and respond in a positive fashion. I know that a lot of these guys are just having fun with you, but after awhile I bet it can get pretty annoying.

Additionally, I think that some of your ideas have merit. Unfortunately your materials choice is limited by your budget. We have all been there at one time or another.

I believe there it an acronym that reads something like: "DIOADIR" - do it once and do it right. My point is that if you cannot afford to do it correctly, then wait until you can.

don't the tops move around if you accelerate hard? seems like they're not too secure there.

i need to find something to do w/ my t-tops cause i don't have a bag, and currently have to put them on the back seats
