145 Gauge Cluster - Where to find?

Hey Guys...

I did a search on this to avoid having to post this question, but there were so many results it was kind of hard to find what I was looking for.

Anyway, my buddy has a 1991 RS V8...the tach in it is on the fritz and he was told he would have to replace the whole cluster. While he was at it, he figured he'd upgrade to the 145mph cluster.

He looked into a couple of places that are on the main page of this site....one was out of stock, and I guess he didn't have any luck with the other one either.

Can you give me some ideas of places to contact to see if he can get one? I told him to check the local salvage yards, but he wants to buy from a place that can say that the gauges work fine.

Also, is there any problem when upgrading these gauges?

Thank you very much. :hail:

here is one on ebay, but even though add say's 82 - 92 I am not sure what would have to be done to put it in a 91, I know the dash changed slightly in 90.

Anybody know ?

No the one in that ebay auction wont work. The 82-89 camaro clusters were cable driven and the 90-92 are not. I think they are electric driven. The 90-92 145 clusters are kinda hard to find. I would say check ebay out and post an ad up in the classifieds. I would check the junkyards too just because they will be a lot cheaper. And there is no problem to upgrade to the 145. Just swap them out and your good to go.

I have a 91 110mph gauge cluster if your buddy cannot find what he is looking for and just wants to replace what he has.

I bought my 145mph cluster for my 90 RS V8 form some guy on E-bay. Took about a good month to finally find one... a decent price was hrd to find, if you want it, you gotta pay. I still plan on eventually doing the 4th gen dash/console swap, so I will swap out clusters for a 4th gen one, so I will be selling this one in the not-so-distant future.
