Bad News on the Iroc (Hail damage).....
My g/f's stepdad (Profinish Paint and Body) looked at my car and told me that it is not worth trying to fix my Iroc (hail damage). He even told me he would have cried if it was his car.
He knows a guy with a 86 Z28 (not Iroc) that has a good body. He is going to see if the guy will part with his car for around $1000 and swap my drivetrain into it.
If this is the case and I get the 86 Z28 and have everything swapped, I was thinking about yanking the TPI off and going with a Carb.
I don't know if it is worth the trouble though. Maybe I should just sell it for what I can get and get a loan from the bank and buy an LT1 car.
I don't know what to do guys.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated......

Wow... sorry to hear that man! The damage is unbelievable. Makes me want to have a garage that much more.
As for your question... I kinda pondered the same thing a little bit ago. My interior got trashed over the winter, the car need a new paint job, but I have a pretty worked-up swapped engine. I was debating getting an '02 T/A, because I could afford it no problem. I decided to keep the 3rd gen though and just do work to it... I love it to much, and want to keep a 3rd gen around.
Although, my situation isn't the same as yours, because you're still gonna have to get a different car regardless.
Have you ever concidered trying to repair it yourself? If you can't do it, then there's nothing lost but your time and any kind of materials you get to repair it. And you gain knowledge in the process.
Good luck on whatever you decide tho!

wow that is crazy what the hail did
did they break the louvers on the hood to ??
we have gotten hail here a few times, but it is very rare and is never any bigger than pea's and doesnt do anything. that looks like it was the size of a golf ball or something.

The hail never made it to my house.
My g/f's stepdad (body man) said my car is totalled. He said I would be better off finding something else. He is calling on the 86Z28 TPI 305 to see what the guy wants for it. Drivetrain swap project.
Meanwhile I have been looking into getting a loan for an LT1 Z28. I spotted this one: http://members.***.net/mhughes10/95Z.jpg
1995 Chevy Camaro Z28 Collectors Limited Ed, 6spd, t-tops, all power, pm, p/seats, posi rear, garaged, not a scratch/tear, PERFECT, Z rated tires $5995 :hail:
I'm playing all of my cards right now, trying to figure out what would be the best thing to do.

seen that before once. Was working at a metal roofed tire company and down came the hail, destroyed about 10 trucks in the parking lot not to mention all the cars out front. Wild experiance. The snot nosed owners son was tring to get one of use to go out and save his new toyota celica gts...nah it got mangled.
They were all fixed.....
Ummm why is there no damage to the deck lid?
I myself would fix it how bad was the roof. replace the hood and mirror louvers windshield front fenders. Not to bad a job for you to play with.

Sorry man. That really sucks. I had hail damage to my 89 camaro when I was in Virginia Beach and I had it fixed. It was pretty bad too not quite as bad as yours but I did get it fixed at the chevy dealer. It had cracked my ttops. By the time it was all said and done it would have been cheaper for the insurance company to total it out. They didnt. They tried to give me a set of ttops from the junk yard then a reconditioned set and neither set fit or locked so I insisted on gm ttops and they paid $1000 for them alone not to mention all the rest of the damage. New hood, fenders plus time to paint it all. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.
