i got an 89 TA and i want to take out the steering wheel and put it in my 87 Firebird... it dosent say it has an airbag but it looks like there is one.. first of all i cant figure out how to get the daM thin out and second i dont want to get punched in the face by an air bag if i do it wrong..
I did a search and they werent really that helpful to me
Can anyone help me?

PS. its possible to swap the key too right? i want that ignition because it has the security chip in it and the firebird dosent

That's not an airbag wheel.

You pry up that center piece from the side with a screwdriver or your fingernails if strong enough, and the normal steering wheel nut is underneath.

For the VATS you'd also need the ECM and compatible PROM.

okay cool, what do the ECM and compatible PROM look like? i dunno steering stuff.. is it in the pic i got up there?

I'm not sure on that one other than you need those 2. It gets asked a bit in DIY Prom, do a search on VATS and ECM in that forum and you may find it.

He would also need the VATS control module, the harness for it and the starter enable relay and harness for it. The VATS control module is located beneath the defroster ducts on the left side of the instrument panel near the drivers right knee. The starter enable relay is under the left kick panel below the hood release cable.

This is technically an opinion, but i think many would agree. Adding the VATS system would be way more trouble than it's worth. You'd be better off having a good alarm installed with a starter kill. To add VATS to you car you'd have to tear apart the entire dash and to make sure everything is compatible it could get very time consuming and expensive!

alright.. well im not gunna go through the trouble of taking out the VATS system then.. specially since i know not much about it... but

I took out the main bolt in the middle of the steering wheel and i still cant get the daM thing off! is there something else i have to do? or just pul really hard!.. when i try to screw off the steering wheel it just turns the collum along with it

the wheels are put on very tight. If you go to an auto parts store you can rent or borrow a steering wheel puller to remove it. I think at autozone they hold $20 in cash and refund you fully when you return it.
