Neat Camaro cup holder idea...

Ok, well, I don't use the spot on my dash next to the Z28 emblem for anything (I've seen gauges there and such), and I was wondering:

Is there a car that has a cup holder that drops down? Like it would fold up and drop down to hold cups! It wouldn't be that hard to make one either... maybe cut a 8x6" hole in the dash and recess it a little, and use the plastic piece that was cut out to cover it, so it doesn't look like @ss lol

In my tbird's console they have cupholders like that, you might want to try one of those from a 94-97 tbird/cougar.

OR

You could do the coin/cupholder from a mid 90's taurus, they are an exact DIN size. (Like a normal radio) You push a botton and they pop out. Pretty cool, and great if you have an extra din opening not in use.

Hmm, I could mount the HVAC in the 2 middle (useless lol) vents, and put the taurus cupholder above the radio!

Now if I had any amount of craftsmanship or initiative, I just might do it

Again, with that type of setup you run into problems with the shifter, or at least getting really close to it. I proposed an idea a long time ago that would solve this problem. The 91-96 Berettas had a pull out cup holder in the dash. One could EASILY be adapted to work on a Camaro. Just cut a rectangle hole in the dash, slide the cupholder unit in and screw it down.

Yah, my girlfriend's 93 Cavalier Z24 had that.

Sorry about the pic... I only have the burned pics of her car online

But that's the kind of recessed holder you're talking about, right?

My wife's Caravan has a neat cupholder in the dash that slides out, and there are many vehicles that have slide out cupholders (Jag, Windstar, etc.) that could be modified to use in a third - gen.

Or you could get an aftermarket unit like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...478562352&rd=1
or something like this: http://www.fischerus.com/produkte/prods/getr_dodge.html and tinker with it for some unique results.

Yah, many people have taken the clock in the console out for a cup holder, there is plenty of room.

Only problem is, it's a pain if you have a stick!
