Stupid tail light
Ok so I figure its a nice night so Ill paint my amber parts of my tail lights red like Ive been wanting to do for a while now.So I go to take off the driver said tail first.Get all 5 wingnuts off and proceed to pull outwards.Hmmm its getting stuck.Look at the outermost bolt and it appears the threads are getting stuck in the hole that isnt drilled big enough.Work at it a bit and its still not budging, although this time I have all the bolts past the threads.WTF?!?!?!
So my question is there anything other than those 5 wingnuts holding on the tail light assembly that I cant see/dont know about? It seems to want to come out fine at the inside(nearest the license plate) and middle, but at the very outside corner it just does not want to come out. What the hell is going on?!?!Thanks to anyone that can lend me some advice.Ill see if I can pull it into the geerage tonight to look at it a bit more, and see if the passenger side light is going to give me the same problem.Grrr all I want to do is paint my damn tail lights!!!!

i bought the Testors Candy Apple Red paint that everyone else is using.
The weather stripping is not sticking. In fact it started to seperate from the assembly when I was trying to pry the whole thing out.So I know its not that.I looked under the assembly, and it appeared that there might be something there thats catching the bumper cover when I pull out,but Im not sure.Right now its the only thing that I can think of.If its going to be that hard to do then Im just going to paint the damn things still on the car and just mask off everything real well.Bah Im so pissed about this.Figures I can do decently well on installing 2 pair of 4th gen LS1 headers, but when it comes to stupid tail lights I cant for the life of me get the out.Now thats just

Yeah my 92 did the same thing.Looks like to that it was getting stuck on the threads.I tried all differnt things.I ended up takeing a hammer and while I was pull one the light I hit the threads. If u do this be very carefull.I had another set of lights so I did not care if it broke.(But it did not break.)I'm going to rem the holes out alittle before i but them back in.

The wingnuts are the only things holding it secure so its probably getting stuck on one of the threads. Just take your time and try it from different angles. Make sure your patient taking the lense off too because they can break easily. Let me know how yours come out. I have done 2 pairs of taillights with the Testors Candy Apple Red paint but they were just a little off the shade of the stock red. Also the 2 cans I bought sucked! They would **** paint everywhere! Just make sure you make sure the cap is on good. The end result is definetly worth it though
