Rearview mirror lights with LED vs stock

On the right is the stock 194 (since the car was new back in 91) and left 4LED wedge.

Might be harder to see during the day, but still a huge difference. This is probably old news to most people, but to those who care just thought I would show a difference.

Check out this page:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...gi?product=CAR

The 194/168 bulbs is pretty much the standard for most bulbs in the US, UK and Australia, it seems. The bulbs in the rear view mirror take the 194. There wasnt all that much space in there so I dont think the 6bulb 194 will fit. I went with the 4 bulb.

I had been wanting to do this for a while but the owner of superbrightleds hadnt had that many options up until now. Im not very good soldering so I pretty much needed him to do it for me.

Other 194 locations include the shifter plate (I think there are either one or two in there) and the guage cluster (havnt gotten there yet). The dome lamp takes a 4211 I believe (which superbrightleds sells as well).

And yea they have different colors. Blue REALLY is blue and I didnt really like. White is similar in color to the HID lights found on the newer vehicles (at least as I can see).

I already did the LED conversion in my truck about a year ago, but used blue bulbs instead:
Im going to trash them and buy the white bulbs. I had no idea they would be so blue. Very annoying at night.

The only problem I had run into is the rear hatch light. It has that type of like that is similar in size to the dome light, except that it has to be "hung" I guess. The 4211 they offer for sale doesnt have those little clips, so that is the only light I havnt found to convert (incidentally my truck has two of these lights in the dome area. One on the left and one on the right of the center 4211). My truck also has lights in the door panel, and I HATE taking off door panels.

I never did convert my truck to the really small LEDS either (called 74 I think?). They go behind like the left and right turn signals, SES light, etc. I dont really care about those since the color of the light is determined by the cluster anyhow.

Im documenting most of what I am doing and am putting it up on a webpage soon.

In 90 percent of the applications they plug right in as if you were to just buy stock ones from autozone or something. Like I said, the only ones I cant find are the hook type that go in the rear hatch (check it out and see what im talking about if you have the chance). Im sure superbrightleds will come out with one someday.
