Insurance claims for body work...

Dealing with insurance companies is a big headache...

My wife got her IROC and a week later, some chick backed into her as she was driving thru a parking lot. She was hit behind the door on the pass side.

The girl had Allstate insurance. If you've ever had to be on the other end and dealt with allstate, maybe you can feel my pain. My first new car (2002 Altima) was hit 18 hours after we bought it. Someone T-boned me. Took Allstate 28 days to get me my car back. I hate Allstate with a passion.

Anyway, here's the problem. The girl and her family that hit us refuses to communicate with us, the cops, or Allstate (her own ins comp!).

So here's my delimma... Its been almost 30 days since she hit the car and her insurance (Allstate) says that until they make contact with the girl that hit us, they can't do anything.

This seems like BS to me... Why in the hell won't they fix our car now and sort it out later??

My wife's IROC looks like someone took a Baseball bat to it.

contact your insurance company. Let them get the money from allstate instead of trying to get it yourself.

Yes, have your insurance co. fix the car. They will then in turn sue Allstate for the money.

I hate Allstate as well. After being backed into by one of their customers when our car was 6 weeks old and had 500 miles on it, the Allstate adjuster would not replace the rear bumper cover. Said it just needed sanded and painted.

Adjuster also admitted if it was his car he would not be happy with a repaired bumper cover if he was in my situation, but he had to go by company policy.

So I complained to Allstate, and one of their reps approved the whole amount. But check is cut for original amount. I call and complain again, and reps supervisor tells me she was wrong for approving the full amount, and what I got was all I was getting.

Allstate SUCKS!

If I were you I would also consider turning it into your insurance company. But be aware, you will have to pay your deductible, and if they do not get the money from the other parties insurance company, your rates could increase since your insurance company paid money out to you.

Might want to call your local magistrate's office and see what legal options you have.

My mom had the same prob. But allstate did not want to total her car and it was 110% past what the car was worth. So her INS.Paid her and they went afterallstate.
(The girl had Allstate insurance. If you've ever had to be on the other end and dealt with allstate, maybe you can feel my pain)Try bing a autobody mech and trying to get time to fix there cars than u will feel pain. They want us to do everything for free.

Seems like my cases are not as isolated as I thought...

I just can't believe their ads, "You're in good hands with Allstate".

Yeah, the hands of......... well, fill in the blank.

saw on the news a week ago that GA is very close to starting a formal investigation into a few insurance companies, I beleive alstate was on that list too bad I didn't pay attention, just listened enough to know mine wasn't one of them. So no you are not alone when it comes to them, make sure and report it to your state if they give you any type of run around. I know in georgia its the victims disgression, the insurance company has to use the body shop of your chosing, but you have to turn in 3 shops and they use the cheapest which you just get 2 at the dealership and the one where you want it fixed.

Geiko(spell) tried the same crap when my siter got rear ended in her mustang, the geiko adjuster gave an estamte of 400, lol you cant even paint the bumper for that. After I got done fighting with them they cut a check for 1500. They wanted to fix the bumper cover which had a 6 inch tear in it, we all know how long that would of lasted.

exactly..
They hound us for our money, yet they are not willing to pay out a dime more than "they think" makes a good job.
How are you supposed to run a business and be successful when you deal with people that always want to short you??

I am sure the adjuster is doing what he can to help you, i am an adjuster (not for allstate) and see this all the time. the allstate person who caused this is not responding to probably repeated phone calls/letters. for an adjuster to pay out on a claim they have to speak with their customer to clear up any coverage issues as well as investigate their side of the story. Yes they can probably get a police report and confirm what happend and whose at fault. My guess is there are coverage problems. The best thing to do is like the others said file a claim with your company and let them subrogate the other insurance company. This is the part i love the most about accidents

I here this from time to time also.. Kinda of a funny world aint it. the person getting paid to do a job always wants more and the person paying the bill always wants to pay less!!!!!!! Good luck with getting your car fixed.

I was not talking about all INS. companys. Allstate is one of the harder ones to get money from.

i hate my own insurance company. i had my car vandalized feb 29, the car was totaled because of all the damage. and i just recieved my check june 30th! i was interogated by their attorney for five hours too. not to mention they kept calling my friends finding out about me, and then when i decided to not cooperate anymore and keep giving out my friends number whose house i visited more than 2 hours before the vandalism happened, they started blaming me. not only did i ave an alaby i always provide police blotters of 3 more cars vandalized that ngiht on the same street. not to mention others that same month! and what could i possibly gain by vandalizing my own car?

i have state farm, but not for long!

My wife just called me and sure enough, the Allstate check arrived today. It was for the estimate amount.

Thanks g0d this is over. I can't imagine how these companies stay in business with shady business practices and making people wait over 2 months for their car to be fixed!

You should now go after Allstate for rental car costs for those two months!

yea, i cant really afford insurance either, but i DO like the mandatory insurance law. think about it. you get hit, you are already angry because your "baby" got hit to begin with, but now you have to deal with this @$$ that hit you not having insurance...at least now, he will get a BIG ticket instead of back when when it was all legal if he/she didnt have insurance...then you would be assed out getting your money...yea, i think i like mandatory insurance...;-)

Not if you have a motorcycle and you fully own it. At least in Washington.

That is why my next purchase after I finish the Bird will be a bike.

In GA you have to have insurance on a bike also, if you ever drive the bike out of state you better check the laws.
