Can this door skin be saved?

Well I may have some $$ to finaly start on the body work after the wreck over a year ago. I need a front bumper, fender, rear quarter, and spolier half for sure. They are all trashed and can be seen in the pics on the 3 page or so of my cardomian site. However, the door skin only has this little bit of real damage to it. Can this be saved or am I going to half to have it re-skinned? Or would the metal work make it to much money in the long run to justify doing.

well man, it depends on how good you are at working that lip back out.. it's definitely possible. Pull you door off, of course the window and the assembly (which is a total b*tch), and try to pound it out the best ya can.. then some mud like jay said..

Just as a note, make sure you check your hinges.... hate for it not to line up nice after you get the door finished!

I would replace the door, pain to get that edge right, the time you save just getting another door will be well worth it.

Thats what I was thinking. I would have to separate the skin to pound out that dent and that would take so much time. By the time I did that I could have another door for under 100 bucks I bet.

I wound take the fender off to so I could geta dolly behind it.And u would not have to take the skin off.If u did just get a new skin.Forthe dent u can go to auto zone and buy a dent puller( 10.00) Only thing with that kind is u have to put a hole in the door so u would want to weld that hole up.U could just fill it but it might rust.So if u don't have the right tools might be cheaper to get a new one.But if u get the tools they are allways good to have around.I would fix it if it was my car would take me about a hour.

Yea I don't and I am a total novice when it comes to body work. I am trying to do all the stuff I can before it goes to the shop so that I can keep the final cost down. Thanks for the insite guys. Looks like a new door may be the cheapest and most fail safe route.

That door can easily be fixed without removing it from the car- a stud welder and puller can get it close enough for a skim of filler.

Having the door roughed out by a shop would be far less hassle than changing the door- unless you find a perfect door cheap. If it's fixed right only the exterior of the door needs repair.

I with Eric if you dont have the right tools to do the job then it not worth doing where I from we would do the job for around $300 thats ready to paint and another $200 to paint thats still less then you would have in tools and paint to do it yourself

I agree and have come to that consensus. I am not worried about paint since the whole car will need to be painted. I just want to get the body panels in advance to help keep the cost down. Looks like I should call a few more yards. Thanks guys

Best I could recommend is a stud welder and some bondo. Probably not worth removing the door, it's guts, and seperating the skin to pound it out...
