i got the carmine red interior in my 87 sport coupe, and i hate it...the car is red and will most likely stay that way, if not, it will be black. would a grey interior look good with the red outside? also, should i go for the light grey or the charcoal? what years did which come in? i am most likely going to put some grey/black fourth gen seats in the car...just want some input is all.

 

The red interior in my iroc lasted about a month before I ripped it all out and went to black with LS1 leather. Its a nasty color that does not keep with time. My seats were orange on the tops and just falling apart really. I personally hated it

I love my carmine red interior. But black would look good too.

 

I think light grey looks good with anything. If I had another 3rd gen I would paint it this E46 M3 red, its a real dark red, with a light grey interior. My old 86 was gonna have midnight blue with light grey inside, but the car was totalled and I moved on to the iroc. I could never decide between grey and black myself for the 86, but for the iroc , with the red.black stripes, I figured black would accent it well

BLACK black is the best I have that nasty red interior as well and umm I hate it as soon as I have the money Black carpet black leather 4th gen camaro highback seats black headliner black(and gray) 4th gen console(Ohhh by the way I read something about it having to be a manual trans to fit in a third why? Other than an obvious reason which I wont mention......Im an idiot) oh yeah and black doorpanels alright hmmm I sound like a goth nah screw that those retards can choose a different color black is mine

 

I hate my red interior. I'm definately going to change it soon. I plan to do a 99 T/A interior swap so I'm also doing the carpet and repainting all the other interior panels. But I'm undecided on the color ... either all black, black and SOM combo, or white and SOM combo.

Which island you on? Was visiting paradise the first of June and every time I saw a 3rd Gen, I thought about how lucky to live there.

I happened to see a 3rd Gen that had Honolulu PD all over it. Do they drive a lot of 3rd Gens or was this guy just a fluke? Marked all up like a police cruiser, but yet it didn't look 'quite' official.....

Also saw quite a few really good looking cars on Maui.

 

For some reason I've always liked red interiors. Only problem I have with the 88 is finding an upholstery kit or a set of red or two tone seats to replace my worn ones. Hate light grey interiors, look ratty two months after it rolls off the showroom floor. Dark grey or black is probably the all around best.

 

Exactly right, just like a good ole pair of blue jeans!!! Unfortunately, I don't want my car "blue jean" quality. It deserves tuxedo quality, and grey is just too plain and boring. That's why all cars nowadays come with grey as the standard, because they can put it in EVERY car, no matter what paint color. It's cheaper.

99% of exotics will have black,red,tan, or graphite seats. Spare no expense!

I happen to like red, but regardless of what you like, we need to start moving away from grey!!!!

I also have an 87 with Red exterior and Carmine red interior,Its not what I would of ordered from the factory,But it has kinda grown on me,i actually like it now!I would like to see it with black leather seats tho(keeping the rest red)

well, for the most part, mine is pretty torn up. my door panels and seats mostly and the rear carpet area is totally worn from the sun. i already have a brand new grey carpet in my shop, and i was looking at the black/grey fourthgen seats that hawks has for $350. i want fourth gen seats but can't find any that would go well with the red. i also have to buy that cargo area carpert piece and the door panels, so i might as well switch the rest over.

what about black panels, grey carpet, and the black/grey seats? do you think that would look good?

Well yeah your reds good cause you off set it with the black seats I have red friggen everything seats and all except for the dash and console

By the way Nice 4th gen conversion it is one right. I hate sounding stupid but I do it so well.
