91-92 Dash in an 84?

I'm getting an 84 Z28 kinda thrown in for not a lot of money with this '87 IROC I'm getting . The 84 is a NICE car. Completely rust free. sat in a garage for years. Anyway, I know some people will get mad, but I dont care, my car. lol. I want to convert it to look like a 91-92. I know how to change over the GFX and bumpers and everything else, but will the dash swap right over? Guages and all. I'm converting the motor to TPI and I'll probably need to swap the dash wiring harness right? What all would I need to do? Any modifications? Thanks. I'll get pictures when I pick up the cars on friday. I sold my 91 for $900. The guy is picking it up and giving me the money on Friday, so thats when I get the IROC and the Z.

I am doing the EXACT same thing right now. From the responces I got, the dash will fit, but the speedo is cable driven in the '84 and electronicly controlled in the '91.

I saw your conversion post. didnt notice anything about the dash though. How can this be changed? I'm swapping in a new engine and trans too. Hopefully 350TPI/T56 so, I'd be changing the wiring harnesses. Will the speedo thing be changed with the harness?

Here you go here is a link that will give you all the info you need for how to get things to work. I put the 91-92 cluster in my stock 85 dash but this year I went and put in the 91-92 dash so it would look better with the 91-92 cluster. Good Luck!

if you are swaping to a tpi motor and all.. as long as you put the dash harness in... and get a vss and speedo gears for the tranny (make sure it is an electric speedo vss) everything will work fine.. but if you are going to the t-56 you will need a dakota digital box or equivilant to make the speedo work... basicaly it is a straight forward swap if you get the motor w/ harness and dash w/ harness.... oh and if you are in need of a 91 dash (no harness though) i just happen to have one from doing a 4th gen dash swap.. any questions though let me know and i will try to help
