Center Console vinyl pealing

The vinyl has pealed off the sides of my center console. Anybody have a good meathod of a DIY repair?

Are you talking about the glove box lid between the front seats. If so what age car is it.

I had the same problem with an 82 Firebird and found a place that makes a moulded plastic that fits down over the lid on 82 to 84 cars, covered it up real well. I don't see any cover for 85 or newer cars on their website but have their catalogue at home and will have a look this evening.

I had the same problem when i still had my stock center console. I used 3M emblem and trim adhesive, a couple 1x4's and large clamps (c clamps would work but i used ones like a carpenter would use). and let it sit over night. it worked great from spring of 98 when i did it until winter of 02 when i swapped in my 96 T/A center console. i swapped my stock console for the 4th gen one so i assume it's still holding up?

I'm assuming you just put the adhesive in the open seam, without opening the console!?! Thanks for the help on mine too! I didn't think an adhesive would hold it. Was yours flexed much?

I didn't see anything in the catalog for a 86 T/A but there is one there for an 82-88 Camaro. I don't know if an 86 T/A glove box lid is the same for an 86 Camaro one?. Prehaps someone else can answer that. Hope this is of some help

Thanks, I tried the glue thing with the wood and the clamps already, but it let go after a year. Maybe I did not use enough glue. It gets pretty hot in that car especially with the T-tops.

i just restored my camaro and i had the same kind of problem...the best thing to do is take some 3m spay adhesive and go to your local fabric store and pick up some vinyl or what ever you want to use and glue it on then trim it to the edges..good luck here is a pic of mine
