Autometer Guages in Stock 90-92 Camaro Dashboard

I really want to go with all Autometer guages in the carbon fiber, but I don't want any of them to be pedistal mounted. What I would like to do is mount a 5" Speedo, a 5" tach, and if possible 2 2 1/6" guages. Anyway who has done something similar in the stock dash location. It has to be specific for the 90-92 Camaro Dashes though. Is something like this easy to wire up? Any clearance problems mounting it in? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

You'd need to make custom mounts for the guages and splice into the stock guage/lighting wiring...lots o work I'd think.

Mine are Autometer ultralites if i remember correctly. 5" inch tach/speedo and four 2 1/6. This is a '91 firebird dash, i don't remember if its like your or not

If your brave enough just take apart your gauge cluster. Cut out the parts of the large "white" peice until the entire gauge bezel goes back together with your new gauges.

The outside most bezel piece will have to be cut a little bit in all four holes. I used a dremal. Just trim a little bit at a time making sure not to take out too much.

In order for you to get 4 gauges in the other two holes you will have to clearance the bezel on two sides where the new gauges meet up the old bezel. Additionally i used the original lens to mount these small gauges to. I simply painted the back side of the old lens black.

I also put the tach shift light on the kick panel in front of the pedals. almost no ones sees it and it still flashs me in the face.

FYI. the description of your car is almost exactly like mine, except i don't have 4th gen rear yet

got any tips on that?

Thanks for sharing your pics with me. Your dash setup is totally different than mine though. The 90-92 Camaros use a half moon type guage cluster with everything crammed into one location right in front of the steering wheel. The speedo on the left, tach on the right, and 4 guages in the middle of them.

I'm pretty sure a 5" tach and speedo would fit on either end. Now I'm wondering if TWO 2 1/16" guages could fit inbetween the 5" guages or if it would make more sense to just put ONE big 2 5/8" guage there.

Now the first thing is how to actually mount these things. I was thinking of maybe gutting a stock cluster and figuring out how to mount the guages in that since the case would bolt right into the factory location, but I don't know if that would work or not. Or I guess maybe somebody made there own faceplate/bracket for the guages.

Second would be the wiring. How difficult is this?, I would think with a wiring schematic it shouldn't be to bad since the factory guage harness is right there, or do these guages have to be wired in from somewhere else?

As far as my car goes, I have only driven on this drivetrain for maybe 2 miles at most. I'm having problems with my factory guages not working, so I said screw it and decided to go with all aftermarket ones. They should be much more accurate anyway. The 2 miles I did drive the car, was amazing, it has so much power its not even funny, and I wasn't even really on it yet. I have seen a guy with a similar setup to mine pulling 12.2 in the 1/4 mile at 112mph. I'll take that anyday for a street car.

Any additional help on these Autometer guages in the 90-92 factory location would be appreciated.

I know this is a stupid question, but could someone post up their custom dash setup in a Camaro? Thanks
