A/C delete differences
On IROCZDAVE's website, he sells a complete non A/C kit with everything you would need to convert to 1LE heat. Are there any differences in the A/C vs. non A/C control boxes (the huge thing behind the dash), electronics, etc?
Where does the air come out of in non A/C cars? There wouldn't be any vents by your feet, would there? What about the little ones by the windows? There are 2 block off plates in his kit. What do they do?

Having owned a non a/c car and converted my Formula to non a/c i'll give ya the best help i can recall.
The block off plates go on the dash ends by the doors, and replace the vents. under the steering wheel there would be 2 switches (like hood release type pulls) for left and right vent, instead of the vents on the sides of the dash a non a/c car has them on the kick panles that cover the bottom of the dash on either side. (i have my old ones off my 84 somewhere if i find them i'll try to get a pic). as for the controls a car with a/c uses vacuum control to change the selections and a non a/c car is cable driven.
Also just to note a non a/c Camaro never had the vent holes cut out on the dash, where as a firebird used block off plates.
Hope that helps.

I'm going to be removing the A/C box on the firewall and installing the Non-A/C style box.
I didn't realize the difference in the vaccum-control -vs- cable control. Assuming I don't change the HVAC panel inside the car, will my heat still work correctly (using vaccum controls with no A/C)?

I put on the non A/C box and the heater works fine. I think if you change the box inside the forewall w/ all the doors in it, you have to convert from vacuum control to cable control.

the best way to convert it (imo) is also the easiest.
leave the under dash stuff alone, and replace the underhood part.
then you can change the control panel layover (if you wish) but i wouldnt go taking apart the air doors and blocking vents.

its just a clear plastic cover with a printed sheetmetal/plastic piece under it.
atleast all the ones ive used have been that way. i had a 82 and a 91, so if they both have it, i assume all the years in between did.
