Here's a partial pic of the console area (yeah, I know, the shift **** was pointing backwards then). Doesn't show much of the 2002 Firebird power leather seats or the overhead console, but "what the heck".....

yeh, i think it's about time i update my pic, on that one i was still working on things, didn't have the underdash panels setup, no hush panels, etc, wires hanging everywhere and the wrong center console, (although i still have that version so i can switch to a later model dash for the cupholder console. All i have to do from the 4th gen now is door panels and A-pillars, both of which have been purchased, a-pillars have been trimmed some, need some more trimming, and the doors have the full 9 yards to go, but that i'm not worried about, if ya can do a dash/autoconsole, you can do a set of door panels, right? lol.

hey guys..
on a scale of 1-10(1 beaing a moron can do it, 10 being hard as hell)
how hard is putting in a 4th gen dash, gauges, NO A/C, NO Heat controls?
i dont have a/c or heat, all i really need is to get the guages to work and the headlight switch(how does that work?)

Not to steal a thread here, but....
4th Gen consoles in really good shape can run anywhere from $75-$175, The thing you have to watch is which time period and which type you get.
First, a Camaro is a lot harder to put one in and make it look good due to the one piece console and radio pod. Several folks have done it, and most use a Firebird radio and heater/AC pod to make it work. Luckily I have a Firebird and had no trouble.
If possible, get a 98 or newer console. The earlier 4th Gens have a big protrusion on the front that is a stinker to cut off and get out of your way.
Also, if you have an automatic be prepared to have to due some fabricatin to get the shifter in there correctly. Lot of people just get a manual console and do without the gear indicator, it's a lot easier to do that way.
Hope this info helps a little bit.

alright, if you've got a camaro and you want a 4th gen center console, what is normally done is this. The console u use is from a late model maro/bird (98+,LS1 styled cars all have the same console) You'll have to do one of two options (as guys normally do) you either get a firebird radio pod from a 3rd gen and use that removing your factory 3rd gen maro radio pod which is connected to ur center console. Or, you hack up your old pod to fit the 4th gen setup, crappy situation all together. If you're ambitious using a early model 4th gen dash and console can be done, and can have great effects, but it doesn't have the same look as the newest styled ones, however, its very very very clean, good lines, and the lines will flow very well w/ factory camaro body lines....just an opinion though.
On that scale of how hard it is to do, i personally think my automatic center console was more difficult to do than my dash, however, the dash was more time consuming, wiring things for guages to just about a week to get the guages wired, headlight wired, blower motor wired (which udon't have) and the radio re-installed, and after that week things still weren't the way i want them, and infact, im still working out bugs and kinks to massage it how i like, but that's to say with any project.
If a 0 is no mechanicalskill needed, and a 10 is rebuilding a indy engine for 500 miles of racing, then i'd go with a 5. You'll need some knowledge and basic tools, you'll need to have a lot of patience, a good eye for konwing what needs trimming and why, a good mechanical sense (ability to see a "mechanism" and know what makes it work and how to make it work better, or more to your liking) etc, If you're just getting into the car stuff, then this might not be ur cup of tea, if you're good at fabricating thigns, and have a good ability with metal working and aren't afraid to hammer out a couple knocks, bang down a couple humps, and cut out a seems, then more power to you, and with enough time, im sure you'll be jumping up and down with the results.

Banging and cutting my shifter makes me a bit nervous although I'm good with tools. Thats why I'm going with a manual transmission console.

Here's an old pic of my interior- before I added white-faced glow gauges and custom door panels...
The seats were easy, but I did do a small amount of cutting to make the console drop right.

Hey. I'm wanting to put in the '98 and up console, but I was just wondering what the height difference is between the 3rd gen Camaro compared to a 4th gen camaro? I ask this because the height for my arm rest is perfect for me right now(3rd gen) and I don't want to have my arm way up in the air. Anyway, any info would be great, Thanks,

Wish the pic was'nt so cloudy.
Dash install was a peice of cake compared to the door panels, those are a pita
Part that took the longest for me was getting the dash pad trimmed to fit contour of the windsheild so it butted up tight. That was made somewhat easier since my windsheild was out for paint, but I have a new pad and must redo it.
Dont know how the rest of your guys pads are holding up, but I did'nt add enough support up by the windsheild and after 2 yrs of street driving/racing ever weekend the pad is cracked in 3 spots. So I'm going to pull it back out and start using expanda foam to make a solid foundation all the way across the dash for the pad to sit against.
Console was an auto, could'nt find a manual at the time in the color i needed to match the dash/door panels so I made due. Turned out a lil better once I got the new shifter installed.

Camaroguy18 thats a nice looking swap. Your seats actually look ebony...some of the others seem to be differing shades making the console not match the dash as well.
