Is this normal?
The carpet that goes all over the 'trunk' area sides.
I wasn't sure if this came stock or if it was an aftermarket thing...what do you think?

That's stock...and its pretty common I believe it was part of a delux interior package or somthing like that. Mine has carpet...in fact in person I think I've seen more with it than not....not counting junked cars.

hmm...that's really odd, guess it isn't normal in Texas because in all the third gens I've seen all have just plastic.
I thought it was fake and thought about ripping it off...lol but I like it now.

It was an option, and yours looks to be in excellent condition..
Keep in mind that if you want to remove it the carpet is glued to the interior pieces so it will look like crap unless you can find a way to remove the old glue...
There are also some places that are stapled...

It is part of the "luxury" or "deluxe" interior package. Both of my thirdgens have had it, and I cannot imagine owning a thirdgen w/o it. Looks much better than the plastic panels IMO.

hehe I really don't care about fixing it up, I bought it not knowing what I was getting myself into and now I'm just going to sell it after I fix the carb. Get something newer and something that breaks less for cheaper.
...and I feel sorry for you if you have the same paint job. Ugh I hate that old man gold paint thing going on.

Het rayvendawn whats up. That whole carpet thing is pretty common. I run across it in 1 of every 5 cars I part out. thats really odd that you have not seen more of them. dont get rid of your car. You and your car are a great combo you are both hot

lol nah... my car deserves someone that will work on it and take better care of it. Not a 20 year old that doesn't know how to fix them nor has a job to pay someone to. It will be much happier with someone else.
