Cant decide which materials to do interior with.

Okay, i've decided that i'm gonna re-cover the seats and the door panels....I just dont know which materials I want to use. I've got two ideas, but i am open for suggestions too. I dont have tooooo much money, so leather or suede isnt an option, though vinyl is. I've got the grey interior now, and am thinking that i wanna go black/grey. I sorta like the carbon fiber vinyl stuff as an accent or something, but i'm not sure if its something i'd really like for a large area.
Here are the two combos i'm thinking about for now, what do you guys think? which one looks better? For the seats, I'd do the inside of the seats in either the carbon fiber vinyl or the grey leather, and do the rest of the seats in the black vinyl. I'd do most of the door panel in the black vinyl and use the carbon fiber vinyl as just an insert. What do you think?

#1! I've never seen a c/f interior (except dash and other hard flat areas)....Putting it on the seats would be pretty darn unique.

What about a faux suede like Alcantara? There are generic versions too that aren't too expensive, I've seen it as cheap as $6 a yard for some generic stuff. Stuff kicks ***...they even use it on a Maybach. Look through that site and browse I think you'll like it. I'm personally planning on using this stuff along with leather. Have the outer bolsters be leather and the inner area be perforated Alcantara. I like the color combo, but the CF vinyl just looks a bit cheesy to me...good luck with everything.

Well on the Alcantara site they mentioned gulf fabrics as their U.S. distributor. You should send them an e-mail.

I know a local Los Angeles auto upholstery supply shop that sells a generic version. I also know that some upholstery shops know what it is...afterall this is LA. My roomate subscribed to Sport Compact Car and there was an article of a guy who redid a Jetta and used Alcantara and the shop was here in So Cal. Sadly my roomate threw away all those magazines, I wish I knew what shop it was.

I currently have a charcoal interior and I doing what I described...with the charcoal leather on the outside and a lighter grey in alcantara in the middle. On the back side I'd just use a vinyl that matched the leather to save money. No point in covering the backside in leather, just the seating surface...and since I'd only be diong the bolsters and head rest I wouldn't spend too much money buying leather. I'd also like to do my sail panels, part of the door panels and headliner in Alcantara. I like your combo because I want something similar...good luck with everything let us know how everything comes out once you do it.
