ACC carpet kit

Well at 211,000 miles and almost 20 years, I figure the camaro deserves a new rug in it. I ordered an ACC passenger compartment kit wih cut-outs. Anybody put one of these in? I know popping out the seats will be easy, but that damn center console looks challenging. What happens to the wiring, stereo and AC controls when you pull it?

Damn, that sucks! I don't think you should have to mess with the dash. The console should just lift out from underneath at an angle according to the pictures in the manual.

...take the face panel off
... unscrew the radio/hvac
...unscrew the two screws on the underside of the dash on the sides ofthe console up front
...unscrew the ones in in the console compartment
...take off the ebrake handle, 1 screw.
...pry out the U clip on the shifter (towars front of car), slide off handle
... take console out

... it's been awhile since I've had the stock console in my car so I may have missed something, but it's not difficult at all. IMO it's more of a pain to take out the back/side panels.

You make it sound so easy. Of course I've wired a bunch of neon and leds, starter kill, back-up switches and crap. Maybe it's time to refine all that anyway! :-)
Thanks for the feedback!

May I ask how much you paid for the kit?

Because of this:

Over time the fiberglass flattened out and no where matches the contour of my fenders. Also, the latch is busted so I have to use hood pins to hold it down. Just a very crappy hood.

your also going to have to trim the sides slightly as well..

take your time with the center console and make sure you mark the holes for the seat bolts as well as the other recess parts like the holes for the seat belt recievers and such.

if you take your time you'll do just fine. i had to slightly enlarge the shifter hole as well.... actually i had to cut alot out to fit but just work with it slowly removing little at a time. ACC makes great carpet.

measure twice, cut once.

Thanks you have all been very helpful! :-) I can't wait to see it in. My old carpet has worn thin in several spots. I wonder if the new carpet comes with the pad attached.

New ACC Carpet comes with the jute pad attached to carpet:
I have a front and rear passenger set, plus trunk area for sale on Ebay: Take a look... plus its cheaper than any other place on the net with passenger and cargo area carpet w/ console cutout. If you want it I will end the auction.

Kandied is right...Watch trimming the shifter hole, the console goes furthur down the trans hump on one side, also make sure the front carpet is far forward as possible,B4 you cut
When pulling the top (black plastic) section of the console, make sure the parking brake is pulled up as high as possible, seems to make it easier to get it high enough to remove
Good luck
That ACC carpet fits about as well as anything I've seen
Good Luck
Steve

Hawks Third Gen Price for $159.00 is for the Passenger Area Carpet Only!
I'm selling the Complete set for 189.00, which include the passenger and Cargo area.
Hawks Third Gen Price for the complet set is $259.00, maybe I should raise the price? I will not do that.....
If you just want to change the passanger area carpet its going to cost $159.00 from Hawks. Complete Set Passenger and Cargo trunk= $259.00

A SAVING OF $69.00, do the math im cheaper..:lala:
