how many of yall redid ur own headliner?
I wondering how many of yall re did your own headliner yourselves? I need to redo mine..but i wnat to do it myself.i paid 150 to get it redone in my old car..and i dont have the money to be spending on that.haha...well...can anyone give me tips or show me some pics? and how do you take the dome light out? i always thought they were scewed in. but its actually some type of pin with some type of lock on it..well..any help is appreciated! thanks
I redid mine myself, about 2 years ago now. I used tweed for mine. it is relativley simple. Just make sure you get all of the old foam (black stuff) off the after you get the material off. Then i used 3M spray adhesive in a can. I also did my t-top shades as well.

I redid mine in fuzzy leopard print. I wish I had some pictures. It's bitchin, and not that hard to do. Just make sure you get off all the old material, and get a good quality replacement. Be careful with the fiberglass board, as mine was broken in a couple places around the edges. Take your time. It's actually kinda fun. Oh, and it really helps to have a 2nd person to help take it out and put it in.

well if I may I redid mine as well and put a light weigght black felt, but to get to the question, all you need to do is take a pick and pry a little around the edgle of the lock washer til you can get a pair of pliers on it and pull it off. Pretty simple really.

I did mine this summer... only things I can say is spend the time cutting it right, I have bare spots showing with the ttops off
And if you use clothespins to hold the edges down while its drying, mmm maybe just dont, the glue soaked through in some spots and I have permenant marks there now :P
otherwise for $25 it sure beats what was in there

Do you mean my C&C......Like DR1 said make sure you cut with xtra material to wrap around & over the frame. When i did mine i cut the head liner with 4-6 inches to spare. So i could wrap it over the frame w/out stretching it too much.Otherwise your headliner will want to pull out.I also cut mine out to the edges of the B pillars & over the holes where the t-top pins f=go into the body. This way the headliner material is under the B pillar/T-top plastic trim.Really helps with minimizing squeeks/rattles.The t-top covers were made using cardboard..

i would recomend about 4 cans of spry glue per headliner. the more coats of glue the more rock hard the thing is, mine is rock hard, ROCK HARD. also, like mist1006 my board was in sorry shape, i lined the back with fiberglass fabric that can be found at any autozone or schucks. good luck with your job. see the thread about my recovering jobe HERE upon looking at that thread i relised i never posted finished pictures. i will try to do that in a couple of days.

I did mine too. Luckily the foam backing was in near perfect condition. I used contact cement and worked in sections. Just make sure you get enough extra material front and back, because when you work it around the tight corners, it uses up some lenght (I'm talking from experience here!).
I tried to find an overhead console that I could adapt, but I had no luck, so I just covered it up as it came from the factory. I used a fabric made specially for car headliners, that already comes with foam backing. I had the sunvisors redone by an upholsterer (I thought about duplicating the factory stitching) but after seeing that the machine would have to sew through the cardboard base, we decided only on gluing the fabric. This is normal fabric, without foam backing, and I found one with a very similar color to the headliner material.
It just takes a little patience and clean working for a neat result, and the change was very satisfactory.

Here's another shot. In the previous photo the dome light looks yellowish, but It was a camera effect, it doesn't look like that in real life.
