Seat foam repair ideas?
I bought these seats a while ago for my car and got ripped off, they were no where near the "mint" condition they were advretised as being in and must have been out of an extreemly high milage car or had a fat *** for a previous owner. Recently I found an identical set (only power) in a dumpster which I put in my car. Now I want to know if I can repair these well enough to put into another car. This is the drivers seat you are looking at.
You can see in this picture that the tear in the back goes all the way through and goes along the entire lower portion of the seat. You can also see that on the left side has a small tear in it and when the cover is on it's quite noticable that the foam is crushed down and part of the bolster is gone.

My thoughs were on the crushed/ripped side I could fill the hole with somthing, maybie a loose piece of foam, expanding foam (although that would probably get to hard and be uncomfortable), or somthing else then then use a piece of duct tape since the seat cover should hold it closed and keep anything from comming out.
The hole in the bottom is a big more of a challange, it could probably be glued although I would suspect it would rip again pretty quickly. If anyone has some ideas on that let me know. I was thinking maybie a piece of 1/4 plywood cut to fit on the bottome of the seat above the metal flanges (or whatever they are called) that the cloth hooks too. I just hate the idea of using wood in a car.
My last idea is to glue a thin piece of soft foam right around where your *** goes and one where your legs to to soften up the seat a bit since i'm sure the all the foam is crushed.
If anyone has any ideas besides throw them away please let me know.

I had my seats recovered in my 88 IROC. The drivers side was pretty much shot from where the material had torn and the constant getting in and out of the car had taken chucks out of the foam. The guy that did mine took foam from an old seat and replaced that particular section with foam. Rather than fill in the hole, he cut out a section and cut the new piece to match.
Hope that helps.
