id rather not have cupholders unless it was a daily driver and they actually went to some use. otherwise why have them, looks better without. but depending on the design of the console gauges are always nice...

That's what the ashtray is for.

If I could put anything in there, I would probably go for a cupholder as well. Or some really cool electronics... maybe a CB radio?

Nice idea, but my only rear passengers are textbooks, jackets, tools, and the dog once.

Actually they did. A coinholder for mounting inside thecenter console excists for our cars. They have to be really rare though.

Here's a brand new one for only $12 + $1.5 shipping:

All trimed in Alcantara, of course.

Kandied- Are you taking the focus group design approach for your next creation?

EDIT: flush mounted iPOD dock would be nice too

the shape of it, wish it was not so boxy and shaped more like the 4th gen style centers.

we all have built in CAN holder already, put the CAN of pop under the e brake. works great, can never fell out once.

Not in a Camaro it won't. Only Firebirds got the cig lighter next to the ashtray. Camaros got the lighter up on the instrument panel.

Oh good im not the only one who wants a CB radio in their car. Just want to figure out the antenna where i don't have to drill holes in the body.

I would say cup holder, but I don't ever really eat in my car, and don't usually drink it; and I use it for a driver. A clock would be nice, as would guages and other stuff.

no i've already figured out what i'm doing with mine, it was an interesting question that took some time to answer and i thought it would be fun to see what others came up with.

the same answer is always money or some rediculous option like inflatable doll... never anything too serious unfortunately as i'm sure some of you have some good ideas.

that unit has been reported to have bad problems though. it would be nice to have a 7" monitor that was a control system for your stereo and acc.

A central mounted touch screen monitor that could control everything, including vehicle operations like power windows, hatch, hvac, etc. There are systems that come close, but
outside of that star trek camaro I have yet to see any aftermarket products/software that integrate everything like this.

without physically designing a program and building it yourself i haven't seen it either however some of the newer units now allow acc controls through their touch screen with several relayed inputs for such so you could technically pull it off.

It's not so much what it needs to have in it, as it matters how it looks IMO....it's gotta look really good....not as boxy as thirdgens, and better fitting than the 4th gens. If everything you put in there was flush (ie gauges, controls accesories etc.) and the console had a unique but tasteful design itself, it would be perfect

i think no console would look sweet. but where do you put your cd player and heat controlls, and how is e-brake cable and mounting area covered up?

yep its been said before. i want cupholders. i was at the point where i was driving my car about 150 miles every two days without A/C. yeah i wanna be able to drink and drive. legally. there are no telling how many times i almost lost her because of the fact i had no cupholder. shifting, holding a 64 oz fountain drink, and trying to steer is not an easy feat by any means. to comment on the consoleless look. i thought about doing it. i thought that it would have made it look really awesome. very "musclecar-like" just couldn't figure out how to do it. lets make a list of what we want in our cars.
this is what id like in specific, this may differ from what others may like

1. function. this stuff can't be just put out at random. there must be some sort of thought process behind how this stuff is put together.
2. cupholders!!!!!!!!!!!! (optional for some)
3. one of those dvd/cd player things with a big lcd screen in it
4. cb radio just for some random fun.
5. maybe a switch panel. i've thought about putting this in an overhead console.
6. a light in the glove compartment
7. power window switches that work
8. maybe not quite so boxy, lets round off the corners on our consoles. maybe sort of form them so that they seemingly "wrap around the driver" kind of curve it a little.
9. vents that actually let air out.
this list may continue when i think of some more things i want.
thoughts? anybody want to add anything? feel free. well, thanks for letting me post.
