t-top to hard top estimate

not counting having to paint, how much hours would it be, to chop off my current after market t-top roof and put on a hard top roof, without the part i have a part car,

i dont like the fact that my car is aftermarket t-tops, i would like the rigity back of a hard top car, and want to restore it for historical purposes, the car was sold as hard top so thats the way it should be.

accel 24lb injectors,
no muffler, 3.27 posi borg warner,
centerforce dual friction lt1 slp steel billet 19lb flywheel, t56 custom built,
msd pro billet distrubtor, msd 8.5 wires, gutted air box, de screened maf, ported plenium, cross drilled power slotted rotors, ac deleted by me..
Kind of makes the t-top to hard top conversion for preserving the cars originality for 'historical purposes' seem rather silly.

As far as rigidity.. if you think a slab (sheet really) of 20ga sheetmetal and some crappy 18ga 'framing' about the side glass is going to make the car rock solid.. your in for some disappointment.

well...it will be better than my after market t-tops, which dont have the kind of reinforcement that orignal t-tops did, not to mention the fact that the stripping is gone and needs replacement, its gonna be way too much to replace what doesnt look right anyway mine was made by a company of C&C and is 2 inches shorter in front so it makes my car stand out, not to mention the design is ugly

well anyway browsing around your site dead bird it looks like mitchel calls for 15 hrs is that correct??

Im a lil confused (this may be due to it being late saturday night woot!) but you have a t-top car that got replaced with C&C t-tops?.....why not just convert back....save a lot more money that way

no my car came as a hard top from the factory, i have all the orignal paper work for this car, the orignal owner wanted t-tops so the dealer had after market t-tops put in locally when the car had 125miles on it, i would like the ugly after market t-tops to be removed and my car back to a hard top i would have considered just transfering drivetrain and all but i like my shell, especally after finishing my t56 swap which was way expensive

I know exactly what C & C tops are as my ex camaro had them. The only reason they 'stand out' to you is because you know what they are (along with other observant f-body owners). Anyone else wouldn't give them a second though. I did'nt when Igot my old camaro.. I just thought the outside strips that cover where the opening was cut seemed somewhat odd at first. I didn't like the fact mine had no locks on them either.

Yes but, that's just a R&R of the roof only. That doesn't include time for removing interior trim, headliner, windshield or other minor detial items.
The total time for R&R is 26 for hard top & 29 for T-bar roof (thats the time next to the actual p/n).

The cost of that, new w'strip, most likely a new windshield (as it's rare they come out and go back in w/o cracking), headliner, trim, paint.... that sounds alot more costly than a $300 w/strip kit.

I'm not saying don't do it but, be prepared for some 'sticker shock' to have someone do that kind of work to a car, professionally. All of which, is just my opinoin...

This is reverse of what you want but, will give you a rough price idea... http://www.markscustomkits.com/t-top-conversions.htm
