the other night i took half mine apart. under the dash pad, theres a bunch of screws, also under the middle trim (hatch, rear defrost buttons) under that. i only removed that trim piece and my gauges though. gauges were tricky to get out around the steering wheel. hope it helps a bit.

4 screws in the front defrost vent, and about 8-12 screws under the dash, then you just slide it off.

I had attempted to do that, a hell of alot of screws to take out, I only managed half of it and got tired and put it back in as it was getting dark.

Guys, I really think I have to pull the whole dash out from the firewall not just the pad. The pad is extremely easy to remove. I meant the whole dash and what holds it to the firewall.

just part pulling screws.... everything has to come out so just start unscrewing everytthing, and you dont have to pull the column, but you do have to lower it and it involves takign out the 2 bols around the center of the colum under the dash

There are screws that hold the air ducts to the back of the vent openings, and you kind of just have to wrestle the dash off of that. Taking off the dash isn't too hard, just remove all of the screws (theyre all over, there are some behind the HVAC and radio area, under the dash the whole way, on top of the dash, etc.). If you see a black 7mm screw, take it out, cuz, chances are, it'll help.
Also, if your steering wheel is still on, its more difficult. You have to tilt the wheel all the way down (past the point where it locks) and jiggle the dash from behind.
