Removed leather from steering wheel

For those of you who have been through it, there's nothing like that sticky crumbly, dry rotted 16 year old factory leather steering wheel to **** you off on an otherwise nice day.

I hd one of those ghetto do it yourself covers on there for a awile but to be honest, I was embarrased to have an otherwise show appearance all the time and this abomination of a steering wheel. I can't afford a recover at the moment so I ripped off all the old leather. It took a couple hours, a putty knife and a LOT of goo-gone, but it looks pretty good. I taped it off and repainted the spokes too.

What do you guys think? It's not as nice as a recover, but it was free, and it doesn't look half bad, and I'm pretty ****.

Yep, did the wheel the other day and the gauges TODAY! ...just took pics today.

The dirt or whatever it is was on my shirt, and while on my back under the dash trying to disconnect the speedo cable it got all over. Don't worry, it's gone now.

Can't wait to put this wheel on. I swore it would be the last piece on the car, so it might be awhile. I'm still doing mechanical work and am afraid of getting it greasy.
