Aftermerket Carpet
ACC and ACS both make decent carpet for reasonable prices. don't buy direct though. check out jcwhitney or similar setups.
if you think carpet at that price is expensive look into the excellent quality.

this kinda pertains to carpet, what does it look like when the back seat is taken out? How does the carpet look? How many mouning plates and crap show? I want to make my future car lightweight, but i wont sacrfice looks and feasiblilty

I got some stuff from Yearone and it didn't sit right at all. The trunk was really screwed up. The whole thing was so bad I sold it on ebay for more than I paid then pulled stuff from the junkyard for $40.

It was brand new Year One carpet and the buyer liked enjoyed it. I just think Year One makes terrible quality carpet in general and I wouldn't put it in my car.

I didn't know Year One made carpet... I thought they sold ACC carpet?
Anyway, I bought my ACC carpet from 1aauto.com , great price, it shipped directly from ACC's warehouse to my house (got a bill in the mail a week later from 1aauto.com), and it fit great.
I only replaced the passenger area tho; my cargo area is/was still in decent shape. So I can't say anything about the trunk carpet.
When the back seats are out, you see metal brackets. Take the seats out and see for yourself; two 10mm nuts on the folding seatback (one in each lower corner), and two 13mm bolts holding the seat bottoms down (one in each bottom center of the seat).

BTW, Year One will take nearly anything back, if you just ask.

1aa Auto on Ebay, good weight to it and fit good. Pulled the old carpet off and glued the old padding onto the new carpet. Worked out great.

I just got carpet samples from 1A Auto and StockInteriors.Com. Absolutely no difference in the carpet whatsoever. Same thickness carpet backing (the material the yarn is weaved into) and same thickness and depth to the cut nylon pile yarn.
The difference is price:
1A Auto (passenger area only) $135.95 + $18.00 S/H ($134.95 + $18.00 on eBay).
StockInteriors.Com (passenger area only) $119.95 + $14.95 S/H ($114.00 + $14.95 on eBay).
The only other difference might be that 1A carpet comes with pre-existing cutouts in the carpet and I don't think StockInteriors.Com's has the cutouts (for seats and seatbelts bolt holes).
Maybe also in the thickness of the jute backing.
It is definitely worth the wait to research the product. The carpet samples are a must to do an exact color match to your existing interior.
As for me, I am open to discussion on the pro's and con's of StockInteriors.Com product. I intend to order a carpet in the next week or two.

In the aftermarket carpet business, thickness is everything. Get the carpet with the thickest backing and try to salvage some of the old backing from your existing carpet. 1A auto carpet only has the cutout for the console. You still have to cut out the seatbelt holes etc. I also had to widen the console cutout. Get a good utility knife/blade. That jute backing is REALLY hard to cut through, it's like kevlar.

I received my ACC carpet purchased from 1a auto on ebay. I ordered gray and received a bluish-gray which is not acceptable. I am waiting to find out if they shipped the right carpet.
did you check the carpet product code. did you ask for a sample before purchase?
i had acc med gray with no problems. i tried to get black though and 6 out of the 6 samples i recieved where different shades for the same product code. they can be very inconsistent with their colors. unfortunately they are the main supplier it seems for almost every company that makes molded carpet for our cars. i had to have a custom carpet made for my car so i could have the right thread count and color.
