Cool New Door Panels

Nearing the end of my interior restoration. Dumped the "Camaro Camaro Camaro" seat covers because the material was too damaged to salvage, but I did salvage the "Camaro" door panel badging. I reupholstered onto marine grade board so they will never warp and no need for the plastic barrier, put on vinyl that matches the seats and went with a marine grade carpet for the bottom half of the panel. I kept the "Camaro" badging to keep true to the restoration, and still comply with my Z06 RPO code which denotes the "Camaro Camaro Camaro" deluxe interior. Hopefully I will never have to take these things off again, I replace just about everything. New locks, outside door handles, lock actuators, stops, electric lock buttons, interior and exterior sweeps, new triangles etc...

These are how the seats turned out, I think the blue is turning out real nice especially since I have about five different shades of it in different places.

Looks great! Nice job!

Really? it all flows together really nicely. Its prolly because of the different textures. They seem to make it go from one shade to the next painlessly.

I didnt even know the interiors could come in that color

This is what it's going in, Soon to be back in it's old skin of light French blue RPO 27, only I putting in some green pearlesence instead of the yellow that the paint formula calls for.

Here is the headliner finished with console in place. I don't know what causes the funny brown color on the visors cause it ain't there.

Is that metallic in your seats looks strange. You did a real good job on redoing everything.

You got different tires in the two pics, which were better between the Indys and the Coopers?

Those are two different cars with different owners. I have the Firestones, so far they have worn well.

When I purchased the vehicle it had the black paint job. It was poorly done, some of the decals weren't even removed, just painted over So, my next project is to bring the paint back to the light french blue RPO 27... Attached is a picture of a vehicle that I am using as a model/point of reference. Owner unknown, but thank you ...

Did you do all of this upholstering yourself, or did you pay someone to do it? That interior looks amazing, congrats and good luck on the paint job

I paid someone to show me how to do it. A local guy does it on the side. For a pretty big discount I did the grunt work...Chasing material, pulling the seats, headliner, panels etc... Then he walked me through the door panels, headliner and visors. Those were actually not TOO difficult, but the seats were a different story. He took the old material and used it as a template and then stictched the vinyl to the velour to complete the seats. There are a lot of tricks and good shortcuts these upholsterers know, and having the right tools helps. I think I could do the panels, or anything that I had to stretch material over. Stitching is a different story. Installation is no problem. Theres some good tech article on this site about headliners etc...
