flowing door handles

I know that there has been some threads about this ive searched

what i want to know is...has anyone other than deadbird done a door handle swap that makes the door handles appear smooth and not stick out of the door

i love how the 4th gens are but i saw that even with 4th gen handles its their doors that are the reason for the flushness

anyhow anyone else done it or have any idea about some kind of door handles that are square so they will go with the cars lines that might work

4th gen handles bolt right on to our cars.

They're not flush but they look a lot better until you can mount better looking ones.

i think that those would 'flow' with the lines of a bird.
look at a bird from the side, the tell me which handles flow better with the car. square or rounded.

"Square"

I think those (are they GP handles?) look too rounded. Something a little angular would look better in my opinion. (like a mid 90's subaru legacy)

what about trying to increase the door handle crevace deeper so that the handle could be flush with the door like on 4th gens?
is that possible or just a lot of work...i can imagine the key would be to somehow making it deeper without damaging the rest of the door... any ideas there?

putting any other kind of handels are going to mess up the door. I just did 383 firebirds handels. Same ones as Gecz28. I think they look ok. BUt for the amount of work it takes I will not be doing it mine, If I were to do it The new caddy's ( the smaller one)has Square ones. That are not huge.

In my opinion- since there is so much work involved with any modification to the door handles, I would say just shave them all together unless you dislike that look...

I think the smoothness of the body is so much clearer without the door handles and locks

I used to like the look of no handles. Now it just looks like somethings missing.

Plus I like going to the track.

Aren't GM truck handles flush and square? Look at this S-10 , it isn't a great picture, but you can see it sits flush with the door

i think those handels are to flat. Are doors on a car are not that flat. I think it would be kinda hard to get them to work. U need to find handels that are square but have a cuve to them.

I think the full size blazers/yukons/P/U's around the 94 model year will work well for our cars. I remember seeing an article that had a blue Z28 with these handles and it looked nice. I was thinking of this last week actually.

the only problem with that is that if you EVER go to a track where they enforce any kind of rules, you'll not be allowed to run because of the shaved handles. they need to be able to get into the car if for some reason you wreck and get knocked out.

I've been looking at the rectangular door handles on some late model GMs... I've seen them on some Buicks and the Pontiac Bonneville. they are shaped like the 4th gen handles, but they are plastic pieces inset on a sheetmetal door, so applying them to a 3rd gen would be easier. The only thing i don't like about them is the this rubber gasket that fits between the plastic handle and the sheetmetal of the door.

Hot Rod did an article on this several years ago. Handles from 88-94 GM trucks work well. Plenty of those in junkyards now!
