Aftermarket vs original door seals?
Aftermarket vs original door seals?
Anyone have any thoughts? Mine are all rotten and need replacing but I don't know whether the aftermarket seals are a pain to install versus the originals and whether anyone thinks they are better or worse...anyone have any reviews?
Thanks!

Installation won't really be any different between factory and aftermarket. I put the Soff Seal door seals on my car. Other than a little extra material at the top front of the door, I'm happy with the soff seal stuff. The doors were tough to close at first, but after a couple days that went away.

Aerowing.. mine was crap.. yours.. good.
My SoffSeal.. total crap and still (doors closed weeks/months at a time..) l have to slam them. Fit.. junk..overall too long for the door. Endblocks.. very poor. Just a harware store washer sunk into the rubber.. ripped out as soon as it was tightened down.
I'm not saying SoffSeal makes junk though.. the kit I installed for a friend many moons back on a 71 camaro.. perfect.
I tend to get the worst of the lot more so than not so, the bad w/seal could just be my luck...
I prefer OEM when I can get it though (or buy it during round 2).
Just my opinoin...
Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the input, but am now just as undecided HAHA! Jim, you are a fellow Vermonter. I am currently in Stowe, building a house in Morrisville. I have been toying with the idea of starting a VT F-Body Club. As far as I know there isn't one at this time. F-bodys this way are a rare site, but one that seems to be growing as the years go by. Do you know if there are any other Vt fbody owners here? Maybee we could start something rolling and have a little invasion somewhere in the state during our seemingly shrinking summer months...

I lived so close to massachusetts, that I really didn't spend any time in Vermont. Actually, in November I moved to MA, although I hope to get back to VT as soon as possible. MA is a cesspool of tree hugging liberals.

I'm interested in the answer to your question as well. ALL of my weathrestripping needs replacing - and if there's somethign that's just as good as OEM and less pricy, I'll go for that too.

I highly recommend the soffseal kits, highly. I have bought many parts for the car in the past 6 months and I was taken away by how well they work for the price. My doors may be a little hard to close but I cant tell because its probably still stiff and I have door poppers. You need 2 people I think to do the installation right and use plenty of adhesive junk. I replaced the hatch glass piece which needed to be trimmed a little bit but Im glad it was too long instead of too short. If any of you want some pictures I can you them.

You just can't beat them for the price.
