oh
my

i would flip out
my lady closed my door with the inside door handle (the one you use to open the door) today when we went to pick up her prescription and I wigged out.
I felt bad afterwards too, but she knows the car is my life so she seemed to shrug it off almost instantly. She understands that when I do that it's just my paternal instinct taking over... lol

The worst part is: what can you do? It's not worth losing a girlfriend over a few dents, and if she doesn't offer to repair it then its just ****ty of her. Needless to say only my best friends can move the car- while I wait anxously over the e-brake.

Definitely depends on the girl I guess. If she's really the one I don't think it'd be a big deal if she made an honest mistake and couldn't afford to repair it. Don't get me wrong, I'd bring it up every minute of the day.
Her: "Honey, can we go to the movies."
Me: "No woman! I can't drive because someone DENTED MY CAR!!!"

id have to blame the guy most of the time in that case, i mean your letting them drive the car, a car of which is probably the entire opposite of what they are used to driving.. down low, ridiculous amounts of torque, rwd, lousy brakes comparing ;0
running across a building.. ehh... the beast mustve made her nervous or something, heh
one year i was out working on my old plymouth.. and my sister, i think she was like 14.. i told her to back my car up a little bit so I could put down wheel ramps, then i was gonna get in and put it up of course... i wasnt thinking, a 14yo male would be alright with that.. haha.. but she didnt know what the column shift was, and couldnt work the manual brakes either I guess... she was looking nervous so I got in, and she shifted that sucker all the way into 1st and drove into my workbench
I was always just thankful i was in the car, and she didnt shift into reverse and drive off into the brook :P

That's why I only let the girls stand NEXT to my car.
We all make mistakes. Give her a big kiss and tell her it's ok. You'll be better off in the long run!

If theres any scratched paint, use some of her makeup to cover it up, but make sure its some really REALLY expensive stuff...She'll love that!
Haha, you'll never really see me freaking out. Some stuff has happened in my family where I know a car is just a car. If I, or someone else was driving my car, and totally f'd it up, I wouldn't care, as long as everyone walked away ok
So what, you had a couple dents anyways man, tell her to start savin and ask her to pay part of your new paint job, no worries. I know I don't sound like the typical car guy when I say "It's just a car" but it really is just a car, much more important things to get pissed off about! (When I say it's just a car, thats in reference to accidents, if some tard keys, or leans on my car, or tries to steal it, I'm going to give him the pounding of a lifetime and most likely kill him.)
Either way though! Sucks man! Just tell your GF you forgive her though, like was said earlier, not worth losing a GF over. I can think of a few girls I wouldn't let near any of my cars, even the 90HP, 85lbs of torque 95 Corsica, because I'd be scared of them driving it into a ditch.
I can also think of a couple that could handle my Camaro like it was a second skin

Made it 10 years with the same girl, after the first 5 years got a Z28...She loved it, but couldn't understand all of the time I would spend with it...Up first thing in the morning on weekends, washing, detailing, vaccuming, etc...until supper time, sometimes later. Used to spend every extra cent I had on that baby (the car I mean). She became very jealous of the Maro and started giving me a hard time about how I loved the car more than her. I always disagreed, but in a way, she was right. The car never talks back, never spends my money on crap I don't want or even know what it is, never asks to drive its friends around, etc...
Last year, graduated to Z28 #2, this one a true machine, costing more than twice what I paid for my first one, costing more in gas, more in maintenance...Also getting more of my love, more of my time...
I guess the girlfriend had enough, realizing what was more important to me...(there were other factors) but this Camaro obsession I have totally bummed her out over the years and she had to leave. She loves the car, by the way, and misses driving in it...we have remained friends, which I guess is good, because now I don't get the hassle for spending my time with the Maro. But I also don't get any of that under the cover stuff either - thats the downside...
As for women driving my car: Story about my drive clean test - took it to Crappy Tire (Thats Canadian Tire for the Americans), it was close to work and it wasn't like they were doing any work on it, just testing it. So, somehow they employed a near midget female mechanic...like 5' ish or there abouts. Crappy Tire has a rule, or at least this service bay did, about customers driving their cars in...not allowed. So I get the manager to drive it in because I at least somewhat know him and trust him more than some chick. Anyway, he tells me that she has to do the 'driving' on the Dyno as she is the certified technician and there are no other drive clean people in...I figure its alright, I mean she is a certified mechanic right? She gets in and fires it up. Stalls it right away. Cranks again and gets it going...shifts into second, goes for third - grind, pop, grind, hop, hop, stall. Smoke just starts pooring out of the engine bay. I ask her what the hell happened and all she can say is 'Sorry, I don't usually drive standard.' What? Why in the hell / How in the hell are you a mechanic then? What are you doing pretending you can drive a car like this? She had no response, but had to 'go on break' because I stressed her out and did not treat her properly...The manager comes out and apologizes for all of this (whether it was just for show or not, he seemed visibly upset by the way my car and I was treated). So he made her come back and run the test, with him driving this time. Passed no problems. No damage done either, at least not noticeable. Thats my story. Sorry so long.

Well, totalling a car is something totally different, I wouldn't wig out on someone who hit another car at 70+ and walked away ok... But someone who was casually backing out of a driveway and hits a WALL or another car or ANYTHING for that matter will definitely suffer the wrath of my fury.
I mean, I wrecked my dads car at 65mph and totalled his van completely, he still had about 10,000 bucks to pay off on it and the insurance was trying thier best to screw him and stick him with the payments.
He wasnt mad at all, was just glad that his 16 year old son wasn't hurt.
However...
When I backed his truck up in the driveway a little and put a gouge down the side from running along his 63 bel air wagon (the rear quarter panel comes to a pretty sharp point) he was PISSED.
As far as stalling a manual car... WHO CARES
Stalling and grinding isn't really going to **** your car up if someone does it once or twice... If YOU drive like that ALL THE TIME it will mess it up though.
I let my lady practice driving a stick in the Camaro all the time, then laugh at her when she stalls and kills it and grinds the gears embarassingly.

Yeah, but when you're $20k+ into a car, it makes you very anxious and nervous about anything that is not quite proper...
I was that way with my $5k car as well, only now its worse.
I wasn't saying it was the end of the world or anything like wrecking a car (I totalled an 87 Grand Prix w/305 doing over 200km/h - insurance adjuster came to look at it - $9k damage - only paid $3k for the car), just that some women should not be driving certain cars. Of course some women can drive our cars, but the majority should stick to their little 4's...

i let my ex-girlfriend drive my car twice. once with me in it, and once when i was driving my parents van back to the house and she needed to drive one, the camaro is easier to drive, so i let her drive that. she is scared crapless of my car though. she took forever to accelerate and stuff. but, with a stall, and 330+hp, and big gears, i dont' doubt why. she is a sweet-heart though, and never once messed the car up.

I think my g/f is special.
I let her drive my car whenever she needs to and has never messed anything up.
Of course when she first started driving it, she would scrape the front end on every dip, but now she takes caution on scraping, just like I do.

My wife (married 14 years!) doesn't want to drive my 'Bird. She can't see the front - she's only 5'3" and has never driven an auto. She doesn't want to dent it
I think she may have a go on a quiet road and when the kids aren't with us.

I agree i let my girlfriend drive my a couple of miles and it was the most scared i've ever been. But loosing a girl you've been with for 10 years is ridiculious over a car ( i know you said there were other things.) but man the choice between someone i love and the car i love isn't even a choice. A thirdgen can be easily replace ( i've already done it once).

I feel for ya man, I've owned my 83 T/A since 1988, and my wife has only driven it 2 times. And that was shortly after we bought it.
I think that one of the reasons she has left it alone all these years, is because it's a 5-spd. She learned to drive a manual for her first car, but choses not to drive them. That's good for me.
By the way, those pictures are of such poor quality, I am having a hard time ,even seeing the damage. Got any better pictures?
Leon.

just my 2 cents..................You all are crazy
I have never met a girl I wouldn't let drive one of my rigs. The best was when I had my 2000 F250 PSD that was pushing 500 HP with 38's under it. I got smashed at the bar so told the GF to drive me home. She wanted to call a cab but no way was I leaving my rig in that parking lot. First off she didn't know how to drive a stick and second she was only 5'2" so she could hardly see over the hood. She started it just fine but when she went to let off the clutch she rolled off it to slow and let the boost build up while applying way to much go pedal and ended up lighting the tires up while freaking out. I just started laughing. She got the hang of it by the time we got home. After that she drove that rig around all the time. The look on a ricers face when they got beat by a girl in a lifted truck was just hilarious.
Girls can drive just as good as guys ie Danica Patric and some even better. Most have just been sheltered for so long hat they never get the chance to learn. Give the gals a break because you never know you might get your doors blown off by a girl someday and then who will have the last laugh.

Tell her you're sorry for getting mad and never fix the damage. You can then bring it up anytime you get into trouble! When life gives you lemons....

Honestly though, before I became an electrician I was a heavy equipment operator and met quite a few women that could run the big iron just as well if not better than the men. Also take a look the next time you see a semi and notice that there are more women driving the big rigs. I sure as hell would not want to **** off one of those ladies.
I would rather let my GF drive my car home from the bar when I had a little to much to drink rather than drive to the bar in her POS car. Plus you got to remeber sh** happens and it is just a car.
