Late model Vette complete rear body panel

Several years ago, while sitting in a drive-thru eating a burger, I saw a thirdgen Camaro drive by that looked like they had taken the complete rear body panel (not just the tailights) and grafted in onto the rear of the Camaro. IMO, it looked REALLY COOL!!! It was very well done!

I mentioned this to a fellow thirdgenner and he said he was pretty sure that somebody made an aftermarket kit like this. I know there is a kit that uses the Vette tailights in place of the regular tailights, but this was the complete body panel from top to bottom.

I did a couple searches, but have not had any sucess in finding it,

Anybody know what I'm thinking about?

that thing is UGLY!!!! what kind of medication do you have to be on to come up that kind of paint scheme. I won't even start on about all the body louvers and the wing. the corvette rear might actually look okay, but i can't get past everything else.

Exactly. A corvette rear is sill pretty nice, all the other stuff isn't.

ATTN MODS: Please note that this did not start out as a flame post, just someone wanted to see this, and although I am sure it could be done properly, this was the only evidence of it that I have seen.

ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to the original post--the car I saw used the rear off a Vette that was a later model than that one, but not the newest. It actually looked good--very well done and no other JUNK on it.

I'm probably gonna get my hand slapped for resurrecting this thread, but it may go to the top of the list in this thread:

Why in the world did you attach that image? Or post a link to that other thread? Neither have anything to do with grafting a vette rear body panel to a third gen!

Minus all of the other crap on the Camaro above, I say the vette rear panel actually looks really sweet on there! I would do it in a heartbeat if I really had the talent to pull it off. Of course I'd fill in the "corvette" flush though... I wonder if a C5 panel would fit... hmmmmmmm...

Because all the pics were good examples of how NOT to customize a thirdgen! IMO!!!!!!!!!!

While there are many smart-a$$ comments I or anybody could make, the best one I can think of directed towards the people who did these cars is:

PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE AND MOVE AWAY FROM THE CAR!!!

Zap Racing, the thread is about the complete rear body panel from a Vette. It has nothing to do with ugly cars, omnipotentgoku posted that one ugly car because it showed the Vette rear. IMO!!!!!!!!

For the love of ***,

I've seen it done. 3rd gen Camaro with c4/c5 (i'm not a vette guy) lights and all painted in that blue/purple color changing paint. Looks like they put an aas load of money into it and it still looked like carp.

Please refer to these threads:

And try to keep on topic and the blatant flaming to a minimum.

Its strange that I came across this post because my neighbor who has a C5 vette had changed his rear cover on his car and had the old one in his shed and wanted to see if it would fit my 88 RS convertible. I thought he had lost it and when we held it up to the car it looked like an impossible project. Easier to fabricate one from scratch that LOOKED like it came from a vette. Well he was so excited about the project he bought my car but after a year at the body shop it looks like he will be getting it back without the bodywork. But if you have some better pics of one I would love it forward it to him.
