i used the 98+ cable in my swap and it works... modificataion is actually easy... you will have to extend the metal rod on the selector switch out about 1.5 inches.. then reasemble it all.. then on the box itself just cut off the current bracket and then notch the part sticking out of the box so the 4th gen cable will fit over it... ill try to get some pictures and or explain more clearly what i did..

please do why do you have to extend the selector switch? would it not fit on the 4th gen dial selector switch.. or do you mean the entire cable some how?

i got ya on the box end.. your modding the pivot point and then putting it on that way..

ill try to get pics and all in the morning.. the reason i had to extend the slector switch rod is because the 4th gen cable is to short.. and i could find no way to extent the cable so that it would still work.. so i jsut extended the back of the selector switch and it worked fine.. on the box end you are correct, mod the pivot and just flip the 4th gen cable upside down from how it was in the 4th gen.. and your set....
