How hard is this going to be to fix?

As you can see, there's a lot rust/rot in the center area under the seals on my T-Tops.
(I'm hoping my pictures will post)

I know I'll need a new set of seals, but how hard is the rest of it going to be to fix???

This is on my 84 Z28 L69 (orig owner).

It all depends if its just surface rust. If it is surface rust, you can just grind it down and seal it, then possibly paint if you wanted to. If its rusted all the way through, then youre gonna have to take all of it out or just that section. I dont have T-tops so i dont really know what you would have to replace.

Take a dremel and grind some of the rust and see if you can find solid metal underneath it.

Replace that bar. They are cheap at a junkyard and its not too hard of an install. Just use lots of sealant.

Ya, it's pretty much rusted through that bar.

Replace that t-bar: http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...?v=1&pid=21280

With the condition that it's in, you will not be able to apply sealant and install the weatherstripping properly. You will have to clean up the metal underneath and apply sealant along the edges and in the screw holes before installing the new bar.

Just replace the entire section. I did way back. I believe there are only four screws and a whole bunch of cement holding it down. I got my from the dealership. Can't remember how much, but I know it wasn't expensive. Once you replace it, just make sure you wipe it down completely after the rain or a wash.

Great, that's the piece I will likely need. Are they still available from GM (dealerships), or what's a good source?
Thanks!!!

Well, my dad works at a chevy dealership and I was like, I need this part. When i received the bar it was wrapped in a bag that had Gm all over it sealed air tight so gm should still have it.. This was only labout 3 weeks ago.
