OK guys, I have those hideous '89 RS tails, which will soon be swapped for Z-28 Grid style lights.

I'm sure that most camaro owners here do not like the way their stock tail lights look.

I recall seeing a set of 'vette lights on a 91/2 camaro, but his car was too fast for me to catch up to him and ask where he got them.

Post any aftermarket tail lights that you can find in this thread, and maybe it'll become a sticky for everyone to reference.

Here's a pic I found on the Internet a while ago. I know there is a company that makes this kit, I just don't know who it is.

I want to get that kit, and install smaller round lights twords the middle for reverse lights.

Anyone know who makes these kits?!

This looks very ugly and wrong. If you want vette lights, please buy a vette.

keep your opinion to yourself, this thread was made to help locate aftermarket tail lights, not to bash them.

I too would like this kit and this has been brought up many times.
The manufacturer is no longer in the car parts biz.

Okay well how about this.... those tail lights appear to be illegal, since it cuts out the triangle section of the tail light that is the equivellent of a side marker light.

Keep this in mind if you want to buy them. Check the laws in your area.

ok then how about this

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/sequential.htm

you could basically make this if you had the old couger sequential box, although I'm sure now its cheaper to buy it off these people

(oh and I know its a 4th gen, but it doesn't take a genius to make this work for a 3rd gen)

Also in a magazine I have a guy used 2 caddy elderado tail lights one on top of each other for each side, it looked pretty good.

That took alot of custom work, i wish i had the mag in front of me, but i remember the car you are talking about. Those taillights were molded into the rest of the body and looked absolutely perfect. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think people here are looking more for a bolt on taillight than a custom one-off.

Well they want ideas so I'm giving them. If people don't wanna do custom work then they can't expect custom results. When everyone uses the same bolt ons you get a whole bunch of carbon copy cars.

we're trying to locate bolt-on tail lights for 3rd gen f-bodes.

I'm considering putting some '02 tails on my '89 though.

I am pretty sure the only bolt on you will find is the corvette kit, which no longer are made.the demand isnt there for any aftermarket lights to be made for these cars.

Thanks, I'm gonna need it

I want to try and make a fiberglass mold that will bolt into the stock location. like an adapter to install 93-02 tails. I bet if I could constuct a set, I would be able to get a company to mass produce them.

I think the 4th gen taillights will be too small, but good luck to ya. I hope it works out!

Personally I really like the grid style tail lights with the Niteshades paint on them. I did a pair for a guy I was building an Iroc for and they looked really sweet on a Black 87 Iroc. I also did the front side markers, front turn signals and third brake light in the rear spoiler. Sorry no pix, he turned into a real piece of work, so I gave him the car back in pieces.

I agree, the only way it would look good imo, is if the lense takes up the entire area of the stock location, rather than only some of it and the rest of the space body color like all the ones pictured.

This is what I think would be a really cool tail light mod.

The next time you guys see a cadillac deville driving around, pay special attention to the tail lights and how they light up. It's like the tail light lights up perfectly uniform and its really quick like they are LEDs but I have no idea. The are really cool looking in terms of how they light up.. in my opinion anyways..

I would like to make some custom camaro taillights that light up and look just like that.

They have a picture of the taillights lit up on the cadillac website, but they don't do it justice.

91/2 GTA remind me of the lights you are talking about.

I think I'm going to get a set of Z-28 lights, paint the black "grid" area to match the car, then use a transparent paint to "black out" the tail light...

I grabbed a set of '93 tail lights, and they are too small and dont look right.

too bad they dont make those c4 tail conversions anymore, I would really like to see the same setup but with c6 lights in it.

yea the demand isnt there for the lights anymore so motion stopped making them. there is a guy i know that does fiberglass work and if he gets a certain amount of people he will make the mold for them. he is going to want money up front for half of the cost cause he doesnt want to get screwed by making the mold and only selling a handful.

that's my car. i got mine off ebay years ago. motion was the only source i knew of for them.

and for the person who mentioned it, you're right it doesn't have rear marker lights. I'm not sure of the legality of needing both front and rear side markers though, never looked into it and i haven't had a problem yet either. Realistically you will see that the blinker is on from the rear, side and front anyway though.

and in case it wasn't obvious, the license plate lights are the top two license plate bolts - they're a kit designed for street rods that light up the plate. The bottom two bolts are LED's that i have wired up as reverse lights. again, not the best solution either, but it works, and i haven't had an inspection problem yet either.

and regarding the if you want the vette lights buy a vette comment, i've heard it a dozen times. if you don't like them, then don't buy them. simple enough, right? It's not your car. did it ever occur to you that one factory vehicle might not encompass everything a person wants in a vehicle? I love the thirdgen camaros general shape, but i always hated the taillights. I like what i have better. is it the ideal solution? no, but in my opinion it beats stock. and the car certainly has the ***** to back up any look i want to give it. I think a lot of people with "buy a vette" sort of comments would think i was trying to make a poor man's vette or something, and that my car wouldn't hold a candle to a stock vette. not the case at all. if you want more info on the drivetrain, i'd be more than happy to discuss.
