What happened to your passenger that caused the blood? Are you both alright? That really sucks about your car. I hope the Suburban driver was insured cause thats going to be some $$ to fix. Hope it works out.

I'm glad everyone is okay. I hate to say it but I say that car is done. Take what you can out of it and get another one. The subframe is bent I'm sure, especially since the frame horn is. It would cost entirely to much to fix, and an insurance company isn't going to pay that much for one of these cars. Kepp us updated on how it goes.

probably according to an insurance company. I think its fixable. Then again if the frame is all twisted, then yeah, probably is totaled.

yeah, that'd definitely not worth having fixed. I'd be very very pissed if I were you. I hate people that try to sneak through lights like that... it's seems like it's a way of life for most people here in Buffalo. I've had someone pass me from behind to make a left turn on a light that just turned red!

The good news is you're still alive (the glass is half full). How did your passenger do?

That sucks. You car was done well, I even liked the pics from when it was G'd up. I wouldn't even think about fixing that.

totalled. Frame is definitely tweaked- pulling it may leave it weakened. I wouldn't risk it in case of another crash.

Take EVERYTHING out that is salvageable from the car while you can! They wont even have to look at that for more than 2 seconds before they say it's totalled.

Your y-pipe might be messed up if it pushed the motor back enough, same with the distributor... but the rest should be salvageable.

Just take anything interior-wise, and engine mods wise (and rear and trans)

This way you can get the new car cheaper since you wont have as strict a list of things you'll need from the new car since you'll have most of the new parts.... which means you can get a cheaper one. Which means more money for an even better looking car than before !

I just got in an accident last week in my girlfriend's 91 Honda Civic Station Wagon (it was a dumb looking car but served it's purpose very well!)... it was her first car and I was bringing it to work to do some work on it after hours, and on my lunch I was driving over to the tire place to put a new tire on it, have it aligned and the brakes bled.. and some guy ran a red and totally smashed up the car. The car was totalled. I have one witness that is saying it's not my fault (because it wasnt my fault lol) but his insurance is still fighting it. Oh well.

well, i checked the car out a little more and the engine is still in brand new condition. even the air cleaner made it through, which is amazing! the frame is bent on the drivers side, but not entirely to bad. My dads friend actually works on old hot rods and staightens metal out. The car is under AAA insurance, but i have all of my reciepts going up to 20k into the car,but that doesnt even include the price of the car. I will see what my dads friend can do. Even the body shop guy says he will do anything to make my car straight agian and replace everything with hotckis instead of gm. I am not getting my hopes up though. If anyone has a 87 iroc vert or a 90 iroc vert that isnt red i am down to buy it and strip my car.

Going back to the accident, the other driver is trying to blame for running a red light in my direction which is impossible because the turning light was green as well as the other green signal. i had one witness and he said the suburban floored it through the intersection.

I have attached the before pics...may she rest in piece :-(

hmm... didn't waste any time on that one!

So sorry about the loss, Bryan, but more importantly that no one was seriously injured or killed. You had an exceptionally clean ride, let's just hope you get fully compensated for it.

That's bad news about the car, good news about finding another one.

I can tell you from experience, just two months ago when I had someone pull out in front of me, doesn't matter if you have the receipts, they don't car. I spent over $3500 on my LT1 swap and had all the tickets on every little thing I spent. They said the car was worth 2600 and would sell for like 200 at the auction so I bought it back for 200 and swapping everything to a GTA I bought. Insurance companies go for what the current NADA is on the vehicle, not what you have in the car if it is a standard insurance company and the car didn't have a licensed appraiser appraise the car for value, and it depends on what the other drivers insurance says since it was his fault, they will have to pay.

This is the reason when I get finished with the GTA I'm going to have it appraised so if it gets hit, I can show that the car was worth more than the NADA.

If that were me, I would of broke out the tire iron and caused serious bodily harm to the f*cker. The driver of that Suburban would be headed for the nearest ICU

Sorry to hear about the accident. The car gave up it's life to save yours and the passengers. Buy it back for salvage value, part it out and toss the rest.

to me, thats very fixable. i've been there, done that. however unelss you have access to, and know how to operate a frame machine, or are REAL good friends with a shop thats for a frame machine, your probably outa luck.

but fight the battle with the insurance company, with all your recipts, you could win.

Wow, head on with a Surburban and not dead, thank goodness you weren't in a Civic or Cavvy. Those cars are pretty decent crash-wise even though they crush up. Hate to see a conv. go to the scrap yard though. Hope it all works out for you.

yeah i really hate to see my car go to a scrap yard, but it looks like that is what is going to happen. if the insurance does want to do it i know a person who has a frame machin only problem it is like 15k to make my car perfect again and i mean perfect this guy i know wont let the car go unless it is perfect if he does straighten it. if the car has to go salvage i will buy it back for 500 or whatever it cost get it back. i will strip the car to whats good. and thro the rest away. i am looking for another white 1990 iroc convertible. i saw there is a nice red one on ebay, but i would prefer white an exact replacment to mine. there is 1990 iroc white convertible on autotrader for 10k but it needs a tone of work. it is a rip off. the car is only worth like 4k. if anyone sees a white one please lte me know. thanks, bryan

Car: 1990 iroc z
Engine: LSX 376 F1A
Transmission: 4l60e
Axle/Gears: 12 bolt 3.42
here is what i had done with the car. Spohn subframe connectors, rebuilt transmission transgo shift kit, deep transmission pan,TA performance rear end cover, zz 383, superram intake, hooker headers, magnaflow cat, spintech exhaust, all 3 inch, bbk 52mm throttle body, recaro racing seats, momo steering wheel,b&m shifter, edge 2800 stall converter, repaint the car which is was stripped to metal and brought back with no dents. the car litteraly had no rust, u could eat off the bottom. i think i am getting this white iroc 90 vert it has a little trunk rust and it is a stripe delete car just like my car. i will be transfering all my parts to that car then sell off the rest. the on other thing i like about this car it is a 5 speed. I will keep u guys updated what happens.
