Aftermarket digital gauges
Just wondering if anyone makes aftermarket digital gauges for the Firebirds. I've seen gauges in parts catalogs but they are smaller than what is stock. I believe that you can get the speedometer and tach standard size, however stock the last two gauges hold both oil, volts, and fuel, temp. I have not been able to see a standard size gauge with dual readouts in digital. I did happen to come across a Knight Rider conversion page that offers some cool digital gauges but they are too expensive in my opinion...$1500. I was just wondering if you can buy something similar individually and cheaper.
Here is the link and I added pics.

You can probably get standard gauges, remove them from the bezel to reduce the size a bit, then mount them to smoked plexiglass. I'm considering it for the 4 sensor gauges, but I'm not sure if I want the screw around with my speedo/tach.

I see what you are saying. Do they make gauges with a level indicator bar? I know some have a light for like the temp or fuel that indicates low fuel or high temp, etc. The ones in the pic have a bar gauge in addition to the actual number. It's kind of cool.
another thing I thought of...what about the other inidcator lights like seatbelt, brake, and check engine. I don't think you can get those on a digital gauge. I'm sure some people wouldn't care to get rid of them but I woud like to try and keep those functional if possible.

That's why there's a $1500 charge. He really put thought into the design. You can pull out the slides that have the seatbelt warning and SES and whatnot, mount it to wherever, then put a light behind it to illuminate it when necessary. I plan on doing it eventually.

I doubt it but suppose its possible. I'm selling my 4 wheeler right now, so if that goes then I'll be funding a full digital dash conversion.

Nope, but yiu can use their build a dash kit and attach the boards to the existing guage mounting unit and then put the black plexiglass over the top. Took me a few hours, but that's how I did it to look stock on a truck I had. Considered it for the 'Bird, too.

pretty sweet...didn't see that before. I wonder if it's the same setup on that Knight Rider site. For about half of what he charges you could get the kit. The only thing is that it looks like there are "analog" bars for some of the readouts on the KR dash. Wonder if you can get gauges that have that including the digital number reading.
Upon further looking, it seems the bars might just be the words telling what the gauge is, such as volts and temp, etc... Probably just looks like a bar due to the photo. but I thought on the site he said you could get bars.
Sucks how you can get a direct panel for a Camaro, but no Firebird

The create a dash kit has "marching bars" around the out side circumference of the guages plus the digital number displayed in the center for the tach and speedo.

I'm building my own like this:
Nordskog digital tach and speedo for the marching bars. $280
Summit volt, oil, water, for $100 all 3.
Custom made bargraph for fuel level (since I want to see it on a scale- I don't want to see numbers): free.
So $380 and a sheet of plexi is all it'll cost. I may get a connector to keep it all easy to remove and access it for easy mods/updates. If I can score the tach and speedo for cheap I'd do it right away.
