Question about OEM Replacement Carpet

I plan on going with the Hurst Dual/Gate 2 shifter, part #2920006. This shifter comes with its own console, so I was considering removing my Firebird's console, and just going with it, so I need to cover the entire floor with carpet. Now my question is: Does the OEM Replacement Carpet have the console cutout? Or do they expect you to cut it out? I know my father purchased a Replacement Carpet for his Nova, and they expected you to cut out for the console.

Anyways, here is the shifter so you can get a better idea of what Im talking about:

Are you wanting to change the console? Hurst makes the same shifter that will work with your stock console. I'm assuming you know that since it's in the ad you posted. I'm thinking of getting the hurst shifter instead of the B&M. I'm assuming you don't have a 5 speed anymore?

Once I do my V8 swap I wont, since my 5 Speed wont be able to take the 305/350 TPi (I have a 350 block and if it turns out to be a good block, Ill build up the 350 TPi instead of the 305. I assume that the TPi will work from the 305 onto the 350?).

I was under the impression that it wouldn't work in my Firebird since it has the newer style console?

I figure since my console is beat to crap, Ill remove it, put in a new carpet, and put that shifter on the ground.

Sorry, I failed to notice you have a firebird. I have heard that they don't fit the firebird console. I didn't mean to hi-jack your thread.

Since the Firebird radio pod is separate from the console that should work/look good. They also make that shifter specifically for Thirdgens too might want to look into it.

to answer your carpet question i have always used acc carpet in everything we have done great quality, my camaro's came with a pretty small cutout for the console i had to cut a good amount to get it to fit just right under my stock console....I'm going out on a limb here but the cutout is more than likely real close to the size of the console for the shifter..whether or not it will be in the perfect location, i cant tell ya

You can buy ACC carpet with or without a console cutout.
