Dash wiring problems

Due to a hacked up 4th gen dash install on the new iroc i just picked up, i am swapping back to the original dash (plus i like the orginal)i need an entire dash harnes and i got a bunch of questions: its an 86 IROC 305TPI

1) what years can i get the wiring out of (i already know i cant use an 85 connectors are different spent all day attpempting that swap)
2) are firbird and camaro gauge connectors the same?
3) any ideas where to get an entire harnes?

really need to know need to get the dash hooked up before i swap my built 350 in

hey, did you get his from a kid in chelmsford ma ?

i iknow the car and i have seen the abortion of hackjob dash install in it, all i got to say is that you are better off looking for a new harness to get rid of your problems.

its black with gold lettering/decalling and ttops with grey leather 4th gen seats and half a dash lol

yup thats the car..... other than the dash and console install the car is in decent shape.... sitting in my garage is my 350tpi engine with some goodies, 700r4 with a shiftkit and b&m shifter, a 9 bolt posi disk, i pretty much bought the car for the floors and body my other one is completely rotted out,

I have the brackets welded back in and the donor cars dash mocked up to fit, just sotra screwed with out the wiring... id repair it if i had the correct connectors, but it was quite the hack up... he hardwired the radio in and hehacked in a keyless entry system so fixing this is going to be a PITA so im really hoping to find a harness

I'm actually thinking of building my own wiring harness for when I do my own custom dash, the reason being that I don't want to hack up my stock wiring harness in the process (the radio connectors have already been slashed off by some hack job radio shop, but that was before I got the car).

Is there a pull your own part junkyard in your area? You could go there early one morning and start tearing a dash apart. The only problem is that first you'd have to yank the steering column, pull out the dashboard while disconnecting everything from it, and basically remove all wiring. You could do it in one day, but you'd have to start as soon as the yard opens. (And if you find a good Camaro dash, you could use it instead of the Firebird dash I take it you have already).

I only suggested yanking it because I recently was tearing apart a junkyard dash and left the column in, albeit lying on the floor. I soon regretted it because it made it impossible to get to some parts of the dash, and I didn't want to crack the whole damn thing in half.

Also, aren't there any junkyards in New York or Jersey? RI is a really tiny state, it's about the size of Los Angeles County if I remember. So there's not much room for junkyards, is there?
