Speedometer overlay idea for my 84TA

Speedometer overlay idea for my 84TA

i bought an extra cluster and was able to take some pics of them so i could transfer them over to photoshop so i can mess with them......

i haven't been working on it too long but this is where i am right now....what do you guys think??

I think that is very creative.
I like it.
But I still am happy with what I did with mine

ya know i really wanna speedo like that....what is it outta and what did you have to do to swap it to that??is it still mechanical?


with this extra set of gauges i KNEW that the TACH wasn't like the one on my TA.....im at college and haven't driven my car in a while so i forget exactly how my tach read.....but here is the tach that i got......musta been off of a firebird or something.... 5000 redline

here is my volts/oil pressure gauge right now

again its just a rough idea.....this one seems kinda blah to me so i may do some modifications over time.....

Notice that my original tach was a 5000 also.

Just so you know, there is a difference in tachs, whether it came out of a v-6 or v-8 car. They will be calibrated differently for either engine.

And the speedo is still cable driven.

how did you get scans of the original gauges? I tried a while back and since the numbers are basically panted on the gauge and it is recessed, I wasn't able to get a good scan since the gauge face could not lay flat against the scanner. Digi pic would be possible I guess, but I think it would be harder to get the dimentions right vs. scanning it.

i ended up using a digital camera because i couldnt get it to focus with the scanner since the face was recessed...

aren't the faces removable so you can disassemble the guages and scan the face flat?

not on the '82-'84 gauges

i never did....i haven't printed them out...i just shrunk the image down to about to the size of our gauges....i was going to have them printed out professionally on some vinyl so i was going to tell them what diameter i wanted it to be....
