WANTED: DETAILED instructions: How to replace Power Window Motor

I would like to replace my Driver side power window motor. I have never done this and am worried about the HEAVY window (which i've heard can slice off fingers [scissor type mechanism] ) glass..

Does anyone have a DETAILED Step-By-Step (pics would be fantastic) of replacing one from a 1992 Camaro.??

If you are intimidated by the thought of loosing fingers or worse messing up your door, try the easy or "hack" way. Just drill out the rivits that hold the motor to the door and the motor will slide out.
I did one motor swap in 30 min without even taking the door panel completely off. (I only had 30 min.) Use loctite on the bolts that replace the drilled out rivits or you will be back in there to tighten them.
Taking the whole assembly out to clean and lube it up is the proper way.

Tech article:
https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...rwindows.shtml

Or search window + hack

yes, do a search, there are excellent threads on it (as you've probably found by now).
Usually you don't need to replace the motor, just the brushes. That can be done without even removing the motor from the car, just use a short flat blade screwdriver.
I got a power window motor from an '82 caprice or something, replaced my drivers side, then just put new brushes into the passenger side one....

i almost lost a finger doing this job. driver side spring snapped and tracks i think got my finger broke it at the knuckle and long ways down my finger was in a cast and all. then i lost use of my finger cause of tendons fusing to the bone i couldnt move it so about 6 months later after the bone finally healed they had to do surgrey on my finger and cut the tendons lose and then i had to go to therapy. it sucked and after all that i it both windows done for 100 bucks so to me that wasnt worth it i just payed someone to do it.

Axle/Gears: bunch of 10 bolts how scary is that
Did both my windows and now both work when they feel like it. I hate our windows. There slow and fail constantly. Another item these cars need an aftermarket for.

I got some manual tracks and cranks off ebay and I hopefully will be installing them soon. hopefully without any more brokeing fingers. i figured its going to save me some weight and it will be much easier then wondering if they going to work today or not. i jsut have to get my door panels remade or cut for the crank, and i already had a console that has no holes in it. so i just need to do it.

huh, you're "upgrading" to manual windows....
boy, niche market there...

I think with a bit of work, greasing tracks, new brushes, maybe upgrading wiring if you want it to work like a new car, and you're set.

I didn't have much problem with it..
