new paint

I was wondering. I had painted some things for my car and something fell onto the paint. I was able to take it out with 1500 grit sand paper. Do I have to respray it before I clear coat it or am I good to just clear it? thanks in advance.

Clear just makes it glossy. If it looks good then clear it, if it looks a bit rough where you touched it up then another base coat won't hurt. Just make sure you let the base coat set up enough before spraying the clear. I sprayed dupont and its either clear immediately or wait a few days for the base to set up.

I am using crossfire paint. its base coat clear coat. I put down the base. I had to wet sand it for some little things. Now is that ok to do or did I ruin the paint setup. basically what I am asking can you wet sand a color coat and then clear it or do you wet sand the color then shoot another coat of base then clear.

Like I said,

after sanding, does it looks like the rest of the paint? If so, then clear it.

If not then spray a base coat then clear it.

one more question. after I spray on the clear, if I notice that the base coat has orange peel, will that be able to be removed by wet sanding and buffing the clear coat?

IF when you are sanding, your sandpaper has a color on it (assuming your car ISNT white) -- then you are into the base coat and will need to touch it up

IF when you are sanding, your sandpaper has white on it (hence the assuming your car ISNT white) -- then you are still in the clear and can just buff it to a shine...

yes...all cars have orange peal once they are painted - most cars come from the factory that way - only way to get rid of it is to wet sand then buff the finish to a bright shine!

if you sand on the color coat, you need to respray color over the area where you sanded. Clear coat will magnify anything in the color coat.
