new idea..reverse hood and removable front clip
new idea..reverse hood and removable front clip
ok with getting back into the trans am scene now..i have gotten an idea in my head..
first is to do a reverse opening hood..which im sure i wouldnt be the first to do..and i know there are kits out there..but was wondering if anyone here has done this and what the opinions are on this all together..??
second is that to make a fully removable front clip..fenders front bumper and hood all in one piece and easily removed..this will be a major task and will be tough if even possible..but again anyone ever done it to a 3rd gen?
my reasone for the second idea is to make it easier to tune the suspension and what not since the car i will be buying will be made into a track car persay..
any help, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..thanks

For the second idea I think it is fully possable just use a series of pins with those spring clip things so it would be secure but when adjustment is needed just pull the pins and pull front clip off.

Buy a 1 piece fiberglass front clip, 1/3 the weight, and normally comes with the hardware to make it open like you described or like a corvette front clip does, depending on the company
If I were you I wouldnt do a pin on style front flip unless it was strickly a drag car.

harwood makes them but the fenders need to be trimmed about 4 inches to match factory specs. I think the harwoods are made for pro-mod cars, so it's got stretched fenders.

yes, the front pops up, then you slide it forward to release it from the rear clips, and then it rocks forward.
Not sure if it will work on a Firebird because of the nose, but it works great on a Camaro.

I would think that you should reinforce the area around the headlights, as there is little structure on our hoods in that area. Would not want ot to buckle when you lifted it.
